Oliver Sucks!!!!!

Featured Replies

Das,

we would have won if OMGNU?EZ! would have started at all 9 positions...

Oliver cannot be blamed for tonight's loss. Yes, he served up two homers, but not only were they to good hitters (there is no excuse for mistakes, but it is some comfort they weren't hit by garbage people) but they were his only mistakes of the night. He left two pitches out there, they guessed right, they blasted it. End of story. He pitched extremely well, and his pitches were moving alot better than they were in his previous start, but sometimes you lose when you deserve to win and win when you deserve to lose (ask Mr. Wright, he knows both angles against the Fish).

This game showed us how anemic our offense has been. Juanpy continues to struggle, he is pressing. Conine is starting to take some pitches, which is a good thing to do when you are slumping, but he is chasing pitches outside of the strike zone that he shouldn't be chasing, as our alot of the hitters. Alex is making solid contact, he will break out soon. Red was a little unlucky that Eli was playing the line in the 8th if not this is a different outcome. Choi and Cabrera are the only two patient hitters in the lineup right now, and it is no surprise they are the only two producing consistently. I think Bill needs to take these guys aside and do something, because they aren't playing anywhere close to what they could and should be doing. This offense is better than last year's and it is playing like if it were wearing Dodger blue.

The hitters are all pressing, swinging at bad stuff. We got lucky we even scored 4 runs today, we didn't deserve them. If the left side of the infield for the Braves played like the right side we wouldn't be talking about this being a tough loss, we would have been blown out.

Don't think we are the only ones noticing the offensive slump. The Braves gave Miguel all of two pitches to hit tonight, and he couldn't capitalize so his hit streak came to an end. Choi didn't get much to hit either, but he is patient enough to take the walk.

Lost in this is the fact that Nate Bump did awesome tonight. Put down all 6 men he saw, and he didn't face slouches either. The pen is getting more and more confident, you can see it in their eyes everytime they come out. This can only make things better.

Don't worry though. Josh and Brad tomorrow and Sunday. We'll need all of two more runs to win this series.

i kno my opinion probably doesnt matter to most lol, but that post is how i felt tonight after the loss. totally sums it up

We are still the best team in baseball

We will be at 10 wins this time Sunday night

I have confidence anytime Josh, Brad, Dontrelle, or Carl take the mound.

My confidence flies out the window with Darren 'F'ing' Oliver on the mound.

Das Texan, ok you dislike the guy, I think everyone gets it, no need to add "F'in" to his name. It's not like he got shelled out there and he did pitch pretty good in his first start. Yea I don't feel to comfortable with him out there either but I got confidence in our team and we just didn't get this one.

Come on, other than the two pitches for gopher balls (which were right in the wheelhouse), Oliver looked pretty damn good tonight.

I have confidence anytime Josh, Brad, Dontrelle, or Carl take the mound.

he has done this thoughout his career.

i hated it when we signed him.

i hate him now.

he will probably have a ratio of 1:3 good starts to bad starts.

watch.

either i will be wrong.

or

you will be wrong.

in case you people werent watching......marrero destroyed a pitch earlier in that at bat he went yard on. but he only had two mistakes right?

BRACE YOURSELVES!!!!

We are not gonna win 150 game this year!

We are gonna loose some games in which we do NOTHING offensively!

We will even loose some games in which Beckett starts. Most likely because of a bullpen collapse or ZERO offensive production.

We will have some TOUGH looses thi syear it's a part of the game.

No, he only made TWO mistakes. In the first Marlins loss, Rocky Biddle served up a pitch that Ray Castro obliterated, but to the wrong side of the foul poll. Was that a mistake too?

I have confidence anytime Josh, Brad, Dontrelle, or Carl take the mound.

Beckett wins tomorrow

and yes that pitch that castro destoyed was a mistake. a pitcher can make a mistake and get away with it.

but Juanky i thought we would go the entire season without giving up another run...

If you get away with it, it isn't a mistake in my book. Oliver made two mistakes he paid for, the others were irrelevant.

I'll be honest, the guy doesn't impress me. Beckett is young. Penny is young. Willis is young. Pavano is fairly young. Cabrera is young. Choi is young. See a trend? I would start Wayne in the #5 spot and move Oliver to the pen. I'd rather see a young guy fail which is the makeup of this team, then a veteran who is lucky to have a job fail.

take the words out of my mouth.

you know what you will get with oliver.

mediocrity at best.

i know i know...he is your fifth starter...blah blah blah. so thats ok if his ERA is somewhere between 4.5-5.0.

you people are homers.

Free Justin Wayne.

Oliver is not a strongpoint in the rotation. Shocker.

~Admin

Exactly.

Oliver is 1-1.

We lost by 1 run....close game. A little more O could have made the difference. Chipper guessed right on a tough pitch...else we win the game.

Oliver pitched decent and was in a grove, then went downhill.

For Gods sake, he is our 5th starter that's it is supposed to fill in for 3 Fricking Months until AJ comes back.

I'm pissed right now with Conine and JP is not being patient at the plate.

our 5th starter gave up 5 runs

and we still had a good chance to win

cant ask more from YOUR 5TH STARTER!!!!!!

Everybody can spout off how "don't worry, we're not going to win every game", but it burns me because this game was so winnable. We got to Wright early and were crusing, and it looked like we had him on the ropes. I don't care what Braves team it is, if you let them sneak up on you, they'll take advantage of you.

We had some opportunities at bat that just didn't go our way- namely, the Lowell ground that would've been extra-bases if not the play by Garcia at third; and the hit by Redmond to right where they were playing him perfectly- a couple more steps to the right by Marrero, and Nunez would've scored. That's just the way the ball bounces sometimes, I guess.
