Oliver Sucks!!!!!

Featured Replies

the key at bats were

Conine in the 2nd where he struck out with guys on second and third

even a sac fly wouldve helped

and

AGone King in the 8th w/ Nunez on 3rd

Everybody can spout off how "don't worry, we're not going to win every game", but it burns me because this game was so winnable. We got to Wright early and were crusing, and it looked like we had him on the ropes. I don't care what Braves team it is, if you let them sneak up on you, they'll take advantage of you.

We had some opportunities at bat that just didn't go our way- namely, the Lowell ground that would've been extra-bases if not the play by Garcia at third; and the hit by Redmond to right where they were playing him perfectly- a couple more steps to the right by Marrero, and Nunez would've scored. That's just the way the ball bounces sometimes, I guess.

You just defined a typical loss.... I prefer to loose a game liek that rather than get shelled and loose 10-2. We are gonna have plenty of games where we come up short, yea it was winnable, we are a good team most games will be winnable. If we don;t perform we are gonna loose. Some guys that we count on did not come through tonight, ie. JP... relax man

lmao.

I expect to win every game, but then reality (and Penny's performance in Game 2 of the 2004 season) hits me and I realize that I expect an evil empire of my own to grow overnight.

I do not like one run losses in which we blew the lead like tonight, but I expect Oliver to, at best, win 10 games and lose 12 or 13 at worst.

Last year you all hated on poor Calr Pavano and I told you to wait that he would make the difference. He definitely did...now Das is hating on Oliver because he gave up 5 runs, which is alot, but not unlike things you'd expect from any pitcher.

Tonight's biggest problems were Pierre not reaching base and Conine's struggles continuing. Time to bat Luis first and Pierre second again and give Conine a day off on Sunday because sun and sinus pains don't go together.

Overall the defense played well, the offense gave us 4 runs, and the bullpen gave up no runs. Not bad at the 10th game...8-2...but I was hoping for 10-0...damn.

And please don't tell me to "relax man". I am relaxed. I'm just giving my opinion about the game, and I even said "that's the way the ball bounces some times." It's just frustrating to be that close and let it slip away, whether it's the second loss of the season or the 50th.

If Conine continues to struggle and I were Nunez, then I would start to get mad also. I think they should platoon in left.

If Nu?ez gets mad, he won't be with the team much longer, he ain't Trader Jack for nothin'.

I'm going to be laughed at for this but I'd rather start Tejera then Oliver.

No. That'd be just stupid.

Point is Oliver had a medicore start and that is expected from him. He is the 5th starter. Its only the 2nd loss of the season. 8-2 not a bad start.

Main reasons we lost IMO is hitting we didnt score enough when we had the opportunity. Conine and Pierre are struggling at the plate as well as Gonzalez but that is expected from Gonzo (sigh).

We just need Conine especially to start putting the ball in play at least and start making some solid contact and the hits will come around. He is pressing too much at the plate when theres men in scoring position.

lmao.

For the most part I agree with you Cape.

However I would not move Pierre to 2nd. He has been grounding out alot with what could be DP balls.....so this would negate the hot streak that Luis in on right now.

JP is too good of a hitter not to get it going again soon.

I would consider moving Choi to 5th spot as this would help assure Lowell keeps getting good pitches.

Everybody can spout off how "don't worry, we're not going to win every game", but it burns me because this game was so winnable.? We got to Wright early and were crusing, and it looked like we had him on the ropes.? I don't care what Braves team it is, if you let them sneak up on you, they'll take advantage of you.

I didn't mean that in an offensive way, just sounded a bit like you were pissed about tonight.

If you prefer to get shelled and loose 10-2 or whatever....then you do not know this game very well. It's a good sign that we are in every game even one's we loose. This will not happen very often (hopefully), but when we do loose I prefer to be in it to the end instead of knowing we are done by the 5th inning.

no i am hating on oliver because he has been in the majors for 12 years and has an era over 5. what you see is what you get from oliver.

pavano was at least not in his prime yet.

oh and again....all nunez did in spring was win a spot on the roster. he hasnt earned a regular or even a platoon job yet by any means.

i mean even albert pujols only got his break cause of injury.

lmao.

Das, I don't care about Oliver's career. I care about his 2004 stats and so far he is doing well. If you saw Pavano's stats in 2002 or 2001, you would have been releasing him to flip burgers. Now he has a nice ring and Ms. Milano at home waiting.

Career 5.00 ERA...... well that sounds like him tonight...5 runs. So we need to score more than 5 runs when he pitches. I think our offense should be able to do that, but there will be nights (like tonight) that we come up short. Luckily we have 4 other good starters that don;t put too much stress on our offense.

oh and again....all nunez did in spring was win a spot on the roster. he hasnt earned a regular or even a platoon job yet by any means.

Agreed that Nunez has only earned a roster spot.

However, I would like to see more of him.....to see if he could earn that LF platoon. He isn't going to earn it sitting on the bench, or pinch running.

And if you ask me tomorrow, I'll probably say I'd rather lose a one-run game than be shelled. But the memories of this game are still fresh on my mind, and I guess I'm still a bit bitter that we should've won the game. We were real close. But tomorrow's a new day. And I'll expect us to win tomorrow, too.

well then you are being a homer.

oliver has an ERA at 4.85 right now.

which is good for him.

i guess his past stats are lookign to be on par with his stats this year after 2 starts.

good job Darren :thumbup

he didnt do well.

he will probably get another chance this weekend or next week sometime.

his base hit the other night was a good start.

i would suggest he try and do something good in his next start.

good job Darren :thumbup *Wears teal colored glasses with pride*

Just because I have confidence in this team, I follow this team like religion and b***h about games not being on in Fort Myers doesn't mean I can't enjoy them winning or be optimistic.

I hope he has a 6.00 ERA, but has 10 wins. I don't care if his ERA is 20.00...as long as he has 10 wins.

he wont get 10 wins though.

he will be kicked out of the rotation sometime in june.

I'd rather be lucky than good. Lucky brings you happiness...being good can bring disappointment.

do0d Oliver is our fifth starter.....and he did a pretty solid job. We had a chance to score a lot more runs....get over it....tomorrows another day. Wouldnt it be awesome if Beckett starts tomorrow? Well he is so no worries.
