This lineup is simply not good enough

Featured Replies

No one is crying, dude. I think YOU'RE taking this too seriously.

There is nothing wrong with being a little skeptical & and or being critical about this team.

I think our lineup is average and I'll stick with the team thank you very much. f*** off.

Amen.

First of all anyone put in Pudge's position hitting behind Pierre and Castillo is going to have a good year. Cabrera will have a better offensive year than Pudge, mark my words.

As long as this offense stays playing like this, we aren't competing for anything. The Braves demonstrated that they ARE the team to beat in the NL East. And this is not a -2.00 ERA rotation. We need to score runs, PRONTO.

Worst thing is getting a pitcher stressed out feeling like they need to pitch a perfect game in order to have a chance to win.

The only player getting consistant good at bats out there is CHOI. btw, .436 OBP

Consistent? Chill the f out, everyone goes through slumps. In 11 games everyone is still settling in. Pudge had a s*** beggining for a season. Wait till we have played 25 games and then lets see who we want to substitute for abe nunez.

I agree with this, but I just don't see 9ner pulling it out.

I'm chilled and calmed. There is a long season ahead of us. I'm calling it as I see it.

For the record, I haven't read any posts in the thread, this is just my two cents.

This lineup is damn well good enough, just because of the options we have with so many differently talented players at so many different positions. It just so happens that the Braves pitched a damn good series, and our lineup happened to be pretty cold. Juanpy needs to heat up, as does Ramon (seems like he might start). And A-Gon doesn't look like he could get a hit with an aluminum bat off a little leaguer.

Because the lineup IS so young, it's going to take them a while to adjust, ect., so don't think our offense will be this dull all season long. The youngsters are just going to get better, inevitably improving the lineup as the season progresses.

Look people, this line-up is about equal to last years, not better and not worse. Did all of you follow this team all year? Because if you did then you would know that there were times last year when we lost 3 or 4 games in a row and DID absolutely nothing offensively. I said eariler in the game thread that this series reminded me a lot of the series we played in Colorado last year, we just could not hit at all. At least our pitching is better this year and we did not get shelled at all yet htis year.

This lineup is better than last years.....

You know what?

I agree.

This offense IS better than last year's. We have one full year of Cabs, we've been seeing what he has been doing and he has alot more left in him. We have a full year of Mr. Conine, who seems to be bringing himself out of his slump. We have an Alex Gonzalez who has decided he wants to have patience now, which can only bring good things. The pitcher's spot can be counted on for about a hit a game now, how many other teams can say that? Choi is a huge improvement over Lee right now, he has incredible power and he has a sick OBP. You saw Castro's power today and there is way more to come.

In a nutshell:

Juanpy = Juanpy

Luiy = Luiy

Miguel > 432JUAN

Mikey = Mikey

Conine > Hollandsworth

Choi > Lee

Castro + Redmond > Pudge

Gonzalez = Gonzalez (in a little while he might be better than last year's)

Productive Pitchers > Nonproductive Pitchers

I'm still not worried about anyone in this lineup, except maybe Castro, since he hasn't really proven anything yet. Conine is getting up there, but he's got at least one more good season in him, he'll get it going, he looked good today for the most part. I'm not worried about Cordero, he's only had 15 ABs (I believe), he'll get it going too. I'm not worried about Bass, because I don't expect much O from him anyway, as long as his defense doesn't drop off, he's fine.

The thing is, when you simplify it, Pierre and Castillo HAVE to get on base for this team to win, it's that simple. It was proven last year and it's going to be no different this season.

This team is going to have stretches like this, but I think .575 baseball gets us into the playoffs, so until this team falls below that mark, I see no reason to get worried...and you can't make any real decisions on players until the 25th game or so, in my opinion.

not too worried about the lineup

pitching is going to carry us all year anyway

8-4 is a very good start to the year, i am content

Hey people don't worry about the loss,this is why some people get grey hair so fast because of stress.Just forget about it and stop getting so stressed out just cuz of 1 serious go out and enjoy your day and forget about what happened to the marlins,just go out there and have fun and stop being so stressed out.

Dood, you are awesome.

100% seriousness.

Niner? The vet can't hit anymore? Why?

Productive Pitchers > Nonproductive Pitchers couldnt have said it better my self

You guys keep forgetting that

1. Encarnacion is a below average offensive outfielder, Great Defensive Outfielder

2. Derrek Lee is an below average offensive 1b, and A Great Defensive 1b

3. Pudge is an all star, future HOF. Its hard to forget about his Defense and Offense but we have very VERY capable replacements.

Now you are going to argue that the replacements we have for those positions this year cannot AT LEAST equal the achievements of those who were here last year?

For More than HALF the season these three players hid behind JP, Luis,Lowell, and to some extent Alex as they had great starts and carreer years. Pudge then started to pick up the slack, Derrek Lee was huge in September when Lowell was hurt, and Encarnacion became a bit more steady.

Now if you are going to argue and side with those same "experts" that are picking us to end up 2nd or 3rd with no wild card in the east that our "Players offensive capabilities" are worse than last year, then you are just as ignorant as thos "experts"

I thought Niner swung the bat rather well today.

Obviously, you can't judge on one game, but he looks to me like he's on the verge of busting out.

2. Derrek Lee is an below average offensive 1b, and A Great Defensive 1b.

I would say Lee is at least an average offensive 1B. He's hardly below average.

I'm not mad he's gone and I like Choi a lot, I'm just saying I don't think you can classify him as below average.
