April 20, 200422 yr The yankees are considering trading Kenny Lofton. I think that he would work well with the marlins. I have always loved his speed and batting. Wouldnt he fit good in pro player. Also, he has proved himself in the playoffs. He killed us last year. However, we would have to send down a player. I would send down Lenny. His swing looks really weak this year.

He is a center fielder. The Marlins arent gonna move JP
April 20, 200422 yr I would send down Lenny. His swing looks really weak this year. I agree. All those at-bats he's had, and nothing to show for it. :whistle
April 20, 200422 yr Lofton can probably play left field coming off the bench. We already have Nunez in that role.
April 20, 200422 yr Kenny Lofton is JP's Idol. Its who he builds his game after. That'd be interesting to see if it happened.
April 20, 200422 yr Trade Nunez for him, then we can talk. But the problem would be getting Lofton AB's, but he could split time with Conine in LF right now. Hmm...I actually like the idea of Nunez for Lofton - provided that the Yanks eat some of Lofton's money. They would get younger and Nunez could get ABs, while we could bring in a solid vet who knows how to play the game and could spell JP or Conine and get us some good offense. I like it...
April 20, 200422 yr no no no no no. Lofton makes more than he's worth, he is on a two year deal, not a one year, plus he's like a lesser version of Juan Pierre, we don't need him and after today's news we shouldn't think about taking on anyone...

April 20, 200422 yr It's not going to happen. The Marlins are set until the trade deadline. We may never see another trade for a quality player again if we don't get a stadium.
April 20, 200422 yr accomplishes nothing. kenny lofton most likely wouldnt be happy unless he were an everyday starter.
April 21, 200422 yr he makes far too much money, theres no where to put him in the lineup (position wise, and batting order). if we were to get another bat, we might as well go after someone who can hit for power & drive runs in.
April 21, 200422 yr No to Kenny. Yes to Aaron Fking Boone. That would be a hell of a pinch hitter later this season.
April 21, 200422 yr No, never. Where in the heck will he go? If we dont have room for Nunez, why would the Marlins go after another outfielder. We are set how we are.
April 21, 200422 yr thats insane, we dont need another Ledton-type player. We got Pierre... 'HE DA MAN'
April 21, 200422 yr I certainly am the invisible man. Lofton for Nunez would make tremendous sense and ONLY if the Yanks eat most of Lofton's salary. I would put Lofton out in LF and platoon (for now) with Conine. Conine, I hate to admit, is pressing too hard right now. Lofton would have to be able to ride pine though, but certainly would be great insurance. Also, having him in the LF with Castillo and Pierre...that would be very dangerous. I just dont know where you would bat Lofton...certainly unconventional. I would also be cautious about the chemistry. Come to think of it, a long shot and probably not a great idea. Oh well...let the debate rage on...
April 21, 200422 yr i say no, we trade for relieve pitching. KL is over the hill we dont have payroll flexibility and im not willing to give up prospects for a player we wont have for more then a year or two who we dont need.
April 21, 200422 yr Kenny is making more this year than the Marlins would pay Nunez in the next five years and that's only for one year of his two year $6+ million deal. The Marlins wouldn't trade for him now since he's batting .167 and on the the disabled list with yet another injury.
April 21, 200422 yr I also dont like this idea because of the fact that there is simply no room for him. But could you imagine a game with JP, Castillo, and Lofton all in the lineup. :w00t
