Here's your daily dose of Yahoo! Sports preview

Dontrelle Willis' scoreless streak may be over, but the reigning NL Rookie of the Year is still undefeated.

The left-hander will look for his fourth win of the season when the defending World Series champion Florida Marlins meet the San Francisco Giants in the second game of their weekend series at SBC Park.

Willis did not allow an earned run over his first 19 2-3 innings this season. That streak ended when he gave up a two-run homer to the Atlanta Braves' Mark DeRosa in the first inning of Florida's 7-2 loss Sunday.

Willis left after six innings with the score 2-all. He also went 0-for-2 at the plate, dropping his average to .545 (6-for-11).

``I definitely wasn't at my best, and they did a great job exploiting it,'' Willis said. ``I did the best I could to keep us in the ballgame.''

The Marlins are 3-1 with three games to go on a seven-game road trip. Mike Lowell hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth Thursday to lead Florida to a 4-3 win in the opener of the four-game set. Hee Seop Choi and Ramon Castro also homered for the Marlins.

``I know we have the reputation of playing small ball, but you saw today we can hit the ball out of the park,'' Lowell said. ``We're capable of hitting home runs. I think our job's not to steal bases. It's to drive in runs.''

Barry Bonds was originally scheduled to have Thursday off, but told manager Felipe Alou before the game that he wanted to play. Bonds then hit his 668th career homer in the sixth, giving the six-time MVP and his late father, Bobby, a total of 1,000.

Bonds, who went 2-for-2 with two walks, usually does not play in day games following night games.

``He wants to stay in there,'' Alou said. ``He wants to help even if they walk him.''

The Giants are 2-2 on a seven-game homestand.

Woo..I've been looking forward to this for a while...I'll be going up to San Francisco this afternoon to catch the game, all decked out in my marlins gear.

finally, i'll get to see dontrelle in person. go marlins!

April 30, 200422 yr

A win tonight assures a winning record on this trip...could be a great trip if they can manage to win at least two of these last three.

Today will be slightly easier to win considering tomorrow we'll be facing Schmidt

My prediction: The sun stands still for 6 hours as the Marlins win on home runs from the C&C Homerun Factory and Willis throwing a no-hitter with one hand tied behind his back. The Giants are so desperate they send William Hung to the plate in Bonds' uniform, whom Willis intentionally walks ruining his perfect game. In the bottom of the ninth Felipe Alou tries the trick again, but with A.J. Pierzynski this time. Pierzynski swings at the first pitch (low and outside) grounding out to Lowell.

Hopefully it will be aired here. The Marlins website says FSN, but sometimes FSN doesn't air the good stuff here in Eastern Virginia.

May 1, 200422 yr

The Marlins website means FSN Florida, not a national broadcast.

No, I'm pretty sure PAX is a regional/local station that airs different stuff in different places. You can be like me and keep up with the game on MLB.com Gameday.
