Will Dontrelle win NL ROY?

Featured Replies

the other question is can he make the allstar team. believe it or not it is a pretty legit arguement.

say he wins his next starts and goes either 7-1 or 8-1 he can be an all star and still missing half of the season

I think the AS game is pushing it...

But possible...

its not really out of the question

a starter that is 8-1 with an era under 3.00 and more k's than innings

is a pretty much lock at the all-star game

it may be a lock...

but Pudge will start...that's 1 marlin

Lowell will be a reserve...thats 2 marlins

it's unlikely to have 3 players from a (now)4th place team in the AS game....

now if we make a run, then definitely

it may be a lock...

Renteria and Furcal would most likely be voted over him(by the coaches)

If he keeps giving performances like tonight he'll run away with rookie of the year. It's still early though.

And some doubted if he was ready...

Psht!

Yeah I have noticed a certain "Marlins4lyf" absent from the boards lately. I made the half-joking suggestion that the Marlins bring up Willis a couple months ago and he had a pretty good laugh about it.

I won't pretend I predicted anything like this, but my argument was how the hell does anyone on this board know whether a kid is "ready" or not? Some people can handle it at different ages, and sometimes age doesn't even matter, talent just takes over. I don't know whether the kid can keep this up, but it sure will be fun to watch.

and sometimes age doesn't even matter, talent just takes over.

That describes Willis...

This kid really does have the velocity that Randy Johnson shows on his pitches... And that's no joke...

And don't sit here and tell me he doesn't...

This kid threw a change-up today that even on TV looked 90 MPH, and I was completely shocked when it turned out to be an 84 MPH change...This kid has some great velocity, and will be something special.

If he wins NL ROY, we better lock his @ss up relitively cheap while we still can...

Yea i think he will win it but There are some competition out there but the way Willis is pitching he may take the Award this year. He has a very low ERA. and his record is 4-1! He has to win it...

huh?

All of the pitches he throws have Randy Johnson like velocity... doesnt the Big Unit throw in the high 90's?

huh?

never was good at science.

ROY is a little far fetched. Don't forget that he will not be pitchin in front of the same team afte the trading deadline. This, and the fact that the expanded September roster is going to be filled with kids on the call-up make his chances of winning late in the year alot more challenging.

Choi is having a good year. If the Cubs make it to the postseason he's in.

Untrue...

Jason Jennings won it last year on a losing team, and so did Hinske! And D Willy is doing better than Choi...
