June 13, 200422 yr Hmm, last year at this time with Pudge we blew ass. This year, without Pudge, we are the top team in the NL East, the longest we've ever sustained a first place lead. Em, how are we worse off again? Damn, this guy is right. Too bad no one reads his posts. last year this time a young team was developing and learning how to play with one another... our pitchers were still maturing, we had todd hollandsworthless in left field, and torborg was calling the shots.. you'd be crazy to think this team wouldnt be atleast 5 games better if we had pudge

June 13, 200422 yr shut up edcanes is right. I Beinfest could turn back the clock I bet he would keep Pudge and do what ever he has to to make it happen. Don't tell anyone to shut up. Beinfest would do the same thing I bet. He isn't giving a 40 million dollar contract to anyone. We can't afford to do so. Not then, Not now. Get over the Pudge crap already, he's gone he has talent and we are still good without him. You can't lock up a future American League DH to a 4 year $40M deal in the National League...If Pudge wanted a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd year, I think they might have found the money, but Pudge cannot be locked up in the NL forever. Look at Piazza. Moving a catcher to 1st is not always the answer...Piazza has made some bad plays and cost the Mets a few games this year by throwing the ball away or not picking one-hoppers from the other infielders. Bottom line, if we gave Pudge the big deal he wanted, the Marlins would have wasted money down the road...

Also, Juanky makes another good point. While the loss of Lee and Pudge hurt the Marlins, it also allowed them drop those guys and search for other avenues of offense and defense. It's a theme of sports of any kind, get used to it. Why is everyone being so darn negative. It's not like the Marlins suck because they lost. Look at the bigger picture and at their record.

June 13, 200422 yr Author Flat out pathetic effort by the Marlins. If I was Beinfest and had to do it again. I would have trade whoever and whatever to keep Pudge. Nobody I MEAN NOBODY on this team can carry a team on his back like Pudge. Pudge talkin and laughin at the Marlins. The best team in baseball last year is about to get sweep by the WORST team in baseball last year. O by the way quote "I want to sweep this team" guess who? Robertson > Penny Knotts > Marlins line-up Pudge> all the Marlins I can't believe people around here after a loss. Go away man. No one gives a s*** if you talk crap. And by the way, it's 0wnZ. Not OWNS. Someone close this. shut up edcanes is right. I Beinfest could turn back the clock I bet he would keep Pudge and do what ever he has to to make it happen. I'm sure Beinfest would love to have no money to work with after signing him! ^_^ Yeah it would have help out alot... NO OLIVER NO WILL NO FOX(yes I own thats unfair) hmmm all those guys have help out so far this year
June 13, 200422 yr OMG are you people ever gonna get over this? yes it sucks that we couldn't come to terms with pudge but it's way in the past now. how about we focus on our own team and how we could improve it instead of dwelling on the past? thanks. damn, thank god we don't have to play the angels

Our record is good, but the Marlins have been damn lucky the Phillies haven't had a major win streak lately...You want to go to extremes, if the Phillies put on a 20 game win streak like the A's did a few years ago, the Fish would be F***ed

June 13, 200422 yr Len said that the Marlins organization is actually still paying Pudge money, and the funny thing is that the Tigers are still paying Easley.

June 13, 200422 yr this whole topic ends up with one statement and thats this team needs pudge haha, are you new?? i love your name :lol
June 13, 200422 yr My point is the Marlins are not playing at a level right now where they can win enough games during a Phillie win streak to not lose too much ground...If the Phillies even get a 6 or 7 game win streak right now, the Marlins will drop far enough back with the way they are playing right now...
June 13, 200422 yr this whole topic ends up with one statement and thats this team needs pudge Get out of here Sheff

THEY'RE licky that we haven't gone on a winning streak and with catcher and BP issues the whole season we're still in first.

Umm, because the Phillies are still 1.5 games back and the Marlins haven't been able to put a sizeable gap between them. The Phillies can score runs, the Marlins offense is anemic right now...

Wait, wait, wait. So you actually think the Phillies are gonna win the division? Nice wya to support your team. The Marlins aren't exactly playing great ball and they're still in first even with the Phillies on this little hot streak. You expec tthe Marlins to be 10 games up on the Phillies in June? You're crazy.
June 13, 200422 yr First of all, I never said the Phillies are gonna win the division...Don't EVER question my loyalty to this team...Get your head out of the clouds and face reality... Second, if you can't realize that the Phillies are a dangerous team with Thome in their line-up and only being a game and a half back, then you are a fool. Marlins have yet to really click this season and there is too much inconsistency with the offense right now...If the Phillies get hot right now, the Marlins will fall back in the standings, do you really wanna see if the team can bounce back then or pack it in...I don't want to get to that point at all...I want a division title..Nuff said

They could be salers and not buyers. Teams are foaming at the mouth to get Pavano. The good thing is we play Tampa twice in the next month. The bad news is we play the Braves.
