July 15, 200422 yr the should realign to four divisions and the top team from each division would make the playoffs: NL: West San Francisco Los Angels San Diego Colorado North Montreal Milwaukee St. Louis Chicago East Philadelphia New York Cincinatti Pittsburgh South Florida Houston Atlanta Arizona AL West Oakland Anaheim Seattle North Toronto Minnesota Kansas City Chicago East Cleveland New York Boston Detroit South Tampa Bay Texas Baltimore get rid of interleague play. NL: Play each team out of your division 6 times (3 home, 3 away), and the rest should be split among other teams in your division AL: Play each team out of your division 8 times, the rest should be split among other teams in your division
July 15, 200422 yr three teams in one division!!!! i smell expansion.........i like how all except for one division has a huge market in it. which would mean huge ratings if those teams made the playoffs.
July 15, 200422 yr This thing is just a mess. How would yo udo the playoffs now? No wildcard? The travel teams would have to go through in the NL South is absurd. The AL divisions are way to thin. Baltimore has a good history with the Yankees and Red Sox. Interleague produces some of the best matchups all year, dont get rid of it.
July 15, 200422 yr Man...that AL East would be so one-sided. The Yankees, Sox and then the Tribe and Tigers. Wow. And Passion is right about the Baltimore thing. They belong with the Yanks & Sox.
July 15, 200422 yr And they'll never get rid of interleague play....makes way too much money for the teams
July 15, 200422 yr That is the single worst realignment I have ever seen! If baseball ever pulled something like that, I'm done with them forever :thumbdown
July 15, 200422 yr Realignment: AL East: Marlins Phillies Braves Mets Expos AL Central: Cubs Cardinals Astros Pirates Brewers Reds AL West: Giants Rockies Padres Dodgers Diamondbacks NL East: Red Sox Yankees Orioles Devil Rays Blue Jays NL Central: Indians Royals White Sox Twins Tigers NL West: Mariners Athletics Angels Rangers Every team from the AL and NL switch leagues

If fans like going to interleague games to see the AL, imagine seeing the AL every night! Seriously though, I feel the divisions are fine ahora. Putting Arizona, Houston, Atlanta, and nosotros in one division is ludicrous.

July 15, 200422 yr Bud has enough on his plate (The Expos and Steroids). That this wouldnt even be discussed or mentioned for three years.
July 16, 200422 yr The only realignment ever happens again is if the Expos move out west or if there is another expansion. If not we stay at our current status quo, which is perfect IMO.

July 16, 200422 yr I would like to see the leagues evened out. Currently, it would create for unequal scheduling if an odd # teams were in each league...but interleague scheduling can fix that. If Montreal moved out west, I say throw them in the AL West, and put Pitt in the NL East.
July 16, 200422 yr oh, and an NL South of Arizona, Houston, Atlanta, and FL would be hell for traveling. When is a 5 hr flight deemed "same division"?
July 16, 200422 yr I like the old two division setup. It's a lot easier scheduling and there wouldn't be quite the disparity in schedule strength. If you add two wild cards a team like the Phillies and Mariners would have been in the playoffs instead of the Cubs and Twins last year. Ideally you'd like to keep the Cubs and Cardinals together so you'd have to either send them and the Pirates to an eight team NL East, or the Reds, Pirates and Brewers to the East. For the AL you'd go back to the 1993 alignment with the D'Ras taking the Brewers place.
July 16, 200422 yr i like the current format, except for 6 teams in one division and 4 in another. i wasn't old enough or enough of a sports fan to remember the 2 division format. but rferry makes a good point, at least teams taking advantage of divisions that bomb won't make it and good teams that now are excluded SEE:AL WEST could all get in.
