(which is sorta funny).. i wanted him to give all the $$ he got from the nfl back to miami and new orleans and their fans and whatever, but anyways.. you guys wanted a better catcher.. the marlins got lo duca, he is better, O & D. you guys wanted a set up man who doesn't suck as much the marlins got mota, he is better you guys wanted a bat in the line up.. the marlins got encarnacion, who played well with the marlins what is the problem? everything you guys wanted, they went out and got. everything you guys have been whining about for months.. the marlins just went out and got. the rotation still has beckett, burnett, dontrelle, and pavano, god forbid. benitez is still closing the games.. this is a GOOD DEAL, imo, that will HELP THEM WIN MORE. i'll be positive. i like the deal, and i stand by it. good move marlins. :thumbup

July 30, 200421 yr Ok, i think some of us are going overboard on this. We got a great catcher. And lost a great SP and good 1st basemen with tremendous power. We gained the best SU man in the NL and got back Encarnation who has speed and had 95 RBIS for us last year. A week ago people were complaing about the loss of encar. Granted Cho>>>Encarnation. if we get a decent 5th started(ishii, lowe or bring Hutch up) then i say we got a good deal. Christ, its not like we gave up Pavano, Cabs, Lowell and Benitez for some POS players.

I dont think he leaves this offseason via FA unless we cut him.. unless i dont think.. And Walker isnt a Rental.. He has 2 years left on his deal.
July 30, 200421 yr Our 5th starter could be just fine...get Bump or Wayne into an every 5th day rotation and either one of them will do just fine. The problem is having them go from relieving to starting to relieving. It's not very good for the arm! I can't believe Choi and Penny are gone. I feel like crying!! :thumbdown
July 30, 200421 yr wow, i just got home from work, turn on my TV to see this trade reported. personally i think its a good trade in the short & the long hall. the marlins get beckett back so he takes over for penny (the main piece traded away) the marlins fill in 3 holes without taking much out of their strengths. and now the marlins have a GREAT possibility of re-signing pavano at the end of the season. what does everyone else think?
