Hey Das, who's that left-fielder on the Giants, you know the one that hits all those home runs and always has a scowl on his face....what's his name?

The White Sox. But they were in the National League a long time ago. These days, they are in a league called the American League, which is know for utilizing such wussy rules as "the Designated Hitter" and "Allowing other teams to play the Kansas City Royals"

You're not talking about the Cubs, are you? Cause they have to nothing to do with this thread. That's why I was confused earlier.

people in Europe and people that know soccer could give a frogs fat ass about Freddy Adu. there are 14 year old players playing all the time over there.

True.

It happens every where in the world.Freddy Adu born in America or outside?

Yo Metro just to inform you.

Several team from Premier league were interested in Adu at age of 13.Adu opted to stay in U.S.

:lol who doesnt know his name :lol

Well, to be honest here in Italy he's not famous at all!!

I remember I have read somewhere about him but I am sure 99% of italian soccer fans do not know him!

that's BS, u don't see 14 year olds playing in european leauges all the time. they play in the lower divisions, kind of a minor league system.

freddy adu is considered the best player in the world at his age and he wasn't going to play in any top league had he gone to europe, he would have played in the development teams.

the MLS WOULD BE a lower division in Europe. therefore, not making it a big deal that a 14 year old plays there. let me know of a 15 year old Raul coming into take Spanish hero Emilio Butragueno's spot at Real Madrid. or a 16 year old Francesco Totti captaining AS Roma over in Italy. a 15 year old Wayne Rooney making a name for himself in England. Freddy Adu starting for the DC United at 14?? great feat, big no big deal.

Gianluca Buffon played his first match as a goalie at 15 for AC Milan ... now thats some tuff stuff

goalie at 15 ... woah

regular field player at 15 different deal but a goalie thats too much pressure

it is a big deal because he's playing with veterans, he's not playing for a 2nd or 3er division team full of youngsters.

the players i just named ALL played on a team full of veterans, and to add more, on the top teams in their country, and in harder leagues. AND with and against waaaaaaaaaay better players.

totti wasn't captainning roma at 16. he actually debuted at 16 and didn't become a regular until he was 18

i wasn't until 17 that raul debuted with real madrid

rooney started at almost 17, not 15 in the premier league.

point well made. anywho, playing over there at 16 and 17 is the equivalent of playing in the MLS at 14.

good job doing your homework, didnt think anyone would actually check on those.

Chill out people...I don't really follow the MLS much so I just had his name on the tip of my tounge that day. I think it's a terrible waste if he doesn't go to play in the European leagues. He is better off developing with the youngsters of a major European team than playing with the "veterans" of the MLS. I wanted to know his name because I think my team should sign him, so I was discussing him on their board (Fiorentina.it). He is still young so it's no biggie if he doesn't go to Europe right away, but I think it would have been better for him (my opinion).

Freddy Adu in Florence could probably be a starter in 2 years, maybe 1 if he does well if he went there right now.
