Just released today tracking each states electoral count, has Kerry has a electoral lead with the comment "it appears their were never conventions at all".

Kerry is at 264 with Missouri, Colorado, and Florida all tied up so he would need to take one of those at this point to take the election. Bush however if he took all three still would not take the white house.

So certainly at this point we are back to a dead heat race going into Fall.

The death toll reaching 1000 and Kerry's ad campaign will slow Bush down enough in September. Which means this election could come down to the debates in October.

which ads the one of that stuff nosed lady that says,"i'm a republican and i'm voting for john kerry..." that's not an ad campaign.

I can't wait for Kerry to slaughter Bush, Mr. "Fuzzy math", in the debates.

I have a feeling Bush can outdebate Kerry. From a nonbiased POV, I mean it.

But Edwards has Cheney's number.

Kerry has to be wary. The debates are never about who is smarter or who has the better point. Its about the media. Hopefully Carville has him well prepared.

The same media that fried Dukakis, the same media that fried Gore, the same media that said Bush won the debates in 2000 primarily because his expectations were lower.

I'm hoping that Kerry will win Florida. He's got my vote, at least.

I guess i'll have to cancel you out :thumbup .

how can kerry take advantage of the death toll when he agrees with the war himself?

I don't think it works for Kerry so much as it just works against Bush.

And do we have to go through the whole list again about Kerry not agreeing with how we were misled into war, how it was planned, carried out, threats exaggerated, etc, etc, etc...?

:thumbup

Kerry was misled by Bush? Geez, I can't even imagine when Kerry has to deal with foreign politicians...if Bush can mislead him, plenty others can.

It's no longer about what's right, tonyi...

It's politics. Nothing more. Election time politics.

cfdodgemarlin, what is it that the liberals want to do? I mean instead of responding with the abstract or the ambigious, why in your mind do you really think we push our political views? Can you be specific?

The truth is people pretty much want the same thing, which is whats best for america. An elitist belief really. But it ends up being that the two dominant ideologies in america differ in how to achieve this goal and nothing more. The truth is if you compare presidents from the two parties, outside events have affected the admin more than ideology, and the end result is the country's gradual changes do not change dramtically b/c of anything a president does

Yeah, i can be specific.

Liberals want to elect Kerry.

And the Iraq issue, which 2/3 of America supported (when we all had the SAME intelligence), has turned into a left/right issue, and the blame is on Bush.

In my opinion, things would be different had Clinton gone in after Saddam under these circumstances. I would have supported the action even during election time, had Clinton ousted Saddam from power.

I'll have to disagree, liberals believe that by government should play an active role in helping citizens by instituting govt programs and such, by enforcing labor unions to protect the working class and so forth...and this is what kerry preaches. What is the real difference b/w the party in terms of what they accomplish? Almost nothing really except rhetoric in domestic policies AND foreign policy differences. I wish clinton would have invaded Iraq b/c i would love to know what the modern peace niks would say to that

Well first off you didnt answer my question. Why, not what.

Second off, its not a simple issue of liberals opposing it. Conservatives have too, such as Pat Buchanan. Ive got a friend who is hyper conservative and thought it was a silly thing to do. So please explain to me how it is a left right issue?

Plus I question your hindsight thinking. How many people were clammering to help the suffering Iraqi people or to stop the threat of Saddam until Bush brought it up? You would have supported Bush invading Canada if he said he had proof and so would a lot of people. A lot of people gave him the benefit of the doubt at that time because they liked him. The key is people believed everything he said when the opposition didnt buy it. Now there is proof that he wasnt being honest or his foundation was very weak. But now that this is out, a lot of people dont want to admit that they were only pulled in when Bush said so and look bad, so they say the always wanted it.

and legacy, thank you for at least admiting that people on this side want to help people and arent out to just undermine the best interest. We will just disagree what is the guiding force for the best interest.
