September 10, 200422 yr The Heat hopes to sign veteran free agent forward Christian Laettner in the next few days, several sources said. Laettner, 35, who was released by Golden State on Thursday, has expressed interest in joining Miami but has other options, according to a league source. Miami can offer the veteran's minimum ($1 million), while several other teams could offer more. The Warriors are responsible for his $6.2 million salary for next season. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/9625089.htm
September 10, 200422 yr LMAO. As soon as he was released I said "Meh, he'd be a pretty good fit here" and then BOOM! He'll be "Ok" off the bench. I know that whenever he played the Heat he always nailed those mid-range jumpers.

September 11, 200422 yr Unless he's being signed to show young kids, how not to conduct yourself off the court(You know having all the guys gather around Christian puking from the high amounts of booze and weed in his sytem). He serves no purpose. It can hurt to him have him, he's the perfect of example of a kid who threw away his career by being a deadbeat bum. Nice dude reference though, Iowa.

September 16, 200422 yr I really need to find some of their battles from college. I hear that Laettner absolutely SCHOOLED Shaq in those games. Too bad his knees went after his only All-Star season with Atlanta. I for one feel pretty good about him. He's a decent rebounder and can hit the mid-ranger. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he's still starter-quality (let's remember with which team he played last. It's a situation in which no matter how good you were, you were always benched in favor of the biggest bust in NBA history, Kwame Brown, if only to get their money's worth). And yes, starter-quality, because I don't think Haslem can be a starter. Speaking of which, where is nc marlin? I don't think I've heard any smack from him yet. He's probably thinking to himself, "Hey, where's my Carolina player for this team? This is no fair! It doesn't matter that Carter and Stackhouse are complete losers and jackasses, I STILL WANT THEM!!!!" :angel_not Oh, and if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm just joking with you nc.

I'll never forget that dunk. I was there with my buddies (I think Heckeroo was there) and it was a small crowd but the place went nuts.

This team has no big men other than Shaq after losing Odom and Grant, and I don't think Haslem can start without getting into early foul trouble. Having a veteran like Laettner is always good to have.
