Great job Bullpen

I don't understand why Jack took Willis out.

Not a bad call. The problem is Jack or any manager for that matter can't win. If he leaves Willis in and Dontrelle blows the lead... he should've took him out. If he takes him out and the pen blows it, he should've left him in.

Yes but if something's not broke, don't fix it.

what if something is tired?

no one in that bullpen could be trusted.

Benitez is the only one.

Excuse me for not buying into him as "the best set up man in baseball."

553371

Which set up man is better then?

553384

Don't get me wrong Admin, there are very few who I would take over mota. I like him a lot and i'm sure he can improve vastly against good opposition. If we are looking at paying him 3 mil+ in arb next year though, he needs to prove to me that he can get the job done consistantly against quality opponents. My 2 mil number I put forth earlier may have been a bit premature, but I was extremely pissed. Mota will have his chance to prove himself in pressure situations in the upcoming games. He has never pitched in september during a playoff race, so it's time for him to sink or swim.

I also can't believe Jack didn't walk Sammy with an open base, I was yelling at the TV to walk him and I think pretty much everyone knew Sammy was gonna come up big before the first pitch to him.

Put the tying run on and the go ahead run at the plate?

553294

With Sammy at the plate, yes. It would have perfectly set up a double play situation for us with only 1 out and could have changed the course of the game in our favor.

Because he had already thrown 109 pitches, Jack did the right thing by taking him out but with only 1 out remaining I would have let him just get out of the inning.

in terms of keeping us in close games, mota hasn't been particularly good for us.

yeah, his ERA is low and he has pitched plenty of scoreless frames in sizeable wins, blowout losses, or close losses, but by whatever stroke of luck, he hasn't helped the team win better than any other replacement setup guy could have done in his place.

the three outings he has given up runs, he ended up costing us the games.

this is a circumstance where i'd say his numbers are extremely deceiving. thus far, mota has hurt the team more than he has helped it.

So much for Derek Lee being the "anti-clutch" as we was so maligned on this board last year.

The Marlins need to take tomorrow.

Then it's broke.

WE better do something because we ain't going anywhere with this crap! And Jack better start thinking before he makes a bad move again. :banghead

I personally would have called Armando instead of Seanez

I prefer a W to a S

But that's me

yeah I was thinking the same thing when Jack put Rudy in.

even a blind squirrel finds a nut

you cant be angry at jack for taking willis out, it wasnt a bad call, he didnt want to leave him in too long and pull a grady little.

mota/seanez just couldnt hack it tonight.

rebound, and win tomorrow.

No, because this team has consistently shown (except for one occasion I distinctly remember) that it will NOT go to their best reliever Benitez when he's needed late in games or in extra innings, UNLESS it is in an absolute save situation

For the Marlins not to bring in Benitez with the bases loaded tonight is inexcusable.

At that point in the game it was the biggest spot for a pitcher.

Someone tell me WHAT YOU ARE SAVING HIM FOR.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU REALLY DIDN'T NEED YOUR BEST RELIEVER WITH 2 OUTS AND THE BASES LOADED IN THE 8TH INNING.

GAYNESS. With AJ pitching tomorrow we could've been looking at 3 of 4 on this road trip, now we have to hope for a split. And keep in mind this is a road trip where we're already giving up a damn home game, so a split in this series is really a necessity.

I'm fine with a split if AJ shuts 'em down tomorrow, but we had a very good shot at a win tonight, & Mota couldn't get the job done, plus Jack once again refused to bring Benitez in unless it's a F-ing save situation. We had a good chance tonight.

ok, get 'em Sunday A.J.

You know what the problem is with many of you guys, You are too God Damned spoiled

You never know if Benitez is gonna give up a double or a hit, You never know if the game continues into deep extra innings and Benitez has to be pulled, You never know WTF is going to happen in baseball.

Mota was the main f*** up yesterday, not jack, not seanez, not perisho, not benitez. I like Mota, and I will continue to like him.

If this team does indeed have the cojones to make it to the playoffs, theyll forget about yesterday, and keep winning, cause yesterday wasnt the end of our season.

Well said. We need to snap off another set of wins to get to the WC lead, simple as that.
