June 30, 200322 yr You can clearly see his potential, But he's batting .176 with 1 HR and 6 RBI...Even when he hit the walk off HR he was 0/4 or 0/5 that game before hitting the bomb...I just don't want to see this kid rushed and have him lose all his confidence,
June 30, 200322 yr he may or may not be ready but he is still probably better than TH and he had to face some 'different' pitchers.......BKim and Wakefield are very hard to hit off of
June 30, 200322 yr You have to give him time to grow in the bigs. He may not be tearing the cover off the ball but he's not playing horribly by any means. He's given this team a spark just like DW has and he's only going to get better. He is definately going to have growing pains but he'll be fine.
June 30, 200322 yr i dunno, with that open stance pitchers are keeping away from him and he seems to be having some trouble with that, ive seen him hit one outside pitch opposite field (that triple), but he needs to do better at that or every pitcher is gonna live off that outside corner with him....he may not be ready..and i wouldnt mind acquiring an OF in one of the lee, castillo, penny trades so we can have cabs off the bench
June 30, 200322 yr One thing I've noticed is he seems a little over anxious and gets behind in the count all the time. He just needs to be more patient and take some pitches and he'll be fine.
June 30, 200322 yr no, if we acquire a OF, Cabs will be sent back down...... no need to have him rot on the bench
June 30, 200322 yr I think he will not be sent down because we will not aqcuire another OF unless it is a lefty bat that is a good performer. BTW, we knew he slumped like this coming in to the call-up. AA Southern League has alot more NL teams than AL teams there. He slumps, but then hits a game winning hit and gets out of it for a while.
June 30, 200322 yr i say lets see how he does this seires vs the Braves than make a move if he still slumping
June 30, 200322 yr I think him being up here can only help. Once he faces the best of the best, he gains some ver helpful experience, especially learning from these guys... Once/if he goes back to AA/AAA he will be even better because of it all...
June 30, 200322 yr i think Robinsion should work with him to stand a lil closer the the plate cuz tha open stance plus he kinda far from the plate pitchers ganna kill him in the outside conoer.. i say keep the open stance but stand lil closer to the plate..
June 30, 200322 yr One thing I've noticed is he seems a little over anxious and gets behind in the count all the time. He just needs to be more patient and take some pitches and he'll be fine. I agree with you Fran. A little more patience at the plate & I think he'll be fine. He's had a decent amount of line drive outs too...
June 30, 200322 yr I say we dont suggest anything about his stance, because he knows how to hit a lot better than we do. Let's let management decide on what to do.
June 30, 200322 yr Author Don't change his batting stance...It's identical to Brian Giles' and he's doinmg just fine to put it mildy. He just has to learn, but skipping AAA may not have been the smartest thing to do...Give him another week or two and if hes still batting under the mendoza line you got to send him back down...
June 30, 200322 yr Author Let me also add Willis had an ERA Over 7 before going on this 7 game winning streak, So maybe Cabs will be able to adjust like Dontrelle did and perform well.
June 30, 200322 yr I'm sorry, but I am extremely happy with Cab's performance. He has come in and hit in the clutch to win us three games that H-worth and Banks wouldn't have. He is in a slump and that's all, he will get out of it. He did this in the minors early on....once he gets used to the majors he will fire up like he did in AA.
June 30, 200322 yr nothing is shocking... Must Phenom Jose Reys comes in majors makes a Fast Start... Miggy comes in does same...... than they both finnaly Realized they were in the majors..... and now both SUX... but both will adjust soon this is just that phase all rookiez must go about..... Bo Hart dominating but he will sooon get back to the real world..... Give Cabs some time he has only been in the major 4 like 2 weeks if that.....
June 30, 200322 yr It's ironic that some of you are so quick to pass judgement on Cabrera and his lackluster performance after just weeks in the show. I'm sure many of you are the same ones who were so quick to anoint him the second coming after he was called up. I seem to remember the predicitons of greatness after his first game. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. Fact is, the Marlins would probably be very happy with a BA in the .280's, double digit HR's and 40 RBI's this year from Cabrera. And crazily enough, I would be happy with that too.
June 30, 200322 yr Apparently some are upset enough to tinker with his stance.... But it doesn't really matter. Fact is, it's amazing that Cabrera is even holding his own, after a rushed-call up and a position switch two days before he got the call. I, for one, am looking forward to see how great he really is when he gats back at 3B this August.
June 30, 200322 yr Sorry Ramp, thought that one would slip by and start another firestorm. Dunno, just decided to stir it up a bit, maybe troll for an arguement. It's a little slow today as far as topics go so what the heck. I guess it's better than posting another "will Lowell be traded" poll. :o
