Favorite New Bands

Featured Replies

Pink Floyd was in the 70's. I guess that's new when you consider all of world history. So Pink Floyd must be a newer band!!!! :confused

While not really a new band, I'd say my favorite new band would be Iced Earth

Thrice is solid

Hawthorne Heights, Autopilot off, matchbook romance and My Chemical Romance are some of the newer bands ive been listening to lately..

The Argument...BLUE...Axium...and Tweedside are all awesome!! The Argument is by far the best of those 4 though!!

but i doubt any of you have heard of any of them :confused

Definitely haven't heard of anyone mentioned... then again, i don't really enjoy new music and find myself listening to more classic rock

Velvet Revolver

Alter Bridge

Submersed

They are the only "new" bands I've heard in a while that can sing, write good lyrics, and play their instruments at a decently high level. Submersed is the only band with members I didn't know before hearing them out of the three. I saw them open up for Alter Bridge and was very impressed. Their debut album has some great guitar work on it. :thumbup

All three of these bands resemble classic rock more than most of the s*** they call rock that appears on MTV.

ew. i dont like iced earth too much. my favorite "new" band is either bear vs. shark or pelican

Now hold on a second, which album did you hear because their first two singers sucked hard. The last one was really good and their current one (Ripper) is the best.

The Fiery Furnaces

The Arcade Fire

The Gourds

Joseph Arthur

I just started to listen to the Arcade Fire. I've heard the album once, and a couple songs a few times. So far, so good. They're like the hip new thing, apparently...even David Bowie said it was the best album in the last few years.

Joseph Arthur is good too, but not so new.

Matchbook Romance and Autopilot Off have some good music. Hawthorne Heights isn't my favorite, though.

Cuz it's just simply the best there is

Velvet Revolver

Does Velvet Revolver really count though, since it's a union of two old kickass bands? Just a thought.

Well, if I can't count "new" bands that have members of old bands I like, take Alter Bridge off my list as well. I think that would leave Submersed as the only true new band I've heard and really, really liked in the last couple of years. I've heard a couple new bands that have a couple good songs, but none of them could put together enough songs to make a great album outside of Submersed.

I'd also have to remove Audioslave from the "new" band list as well.

Man, music really sucks ass the past couple of years. :plain

I disagree ... it just sucks that all commercial bands suck the left one, but there are really great musicians making wonderful music out there

This is the correct response.

Alter Bridge is just a Creed clone. It's basically the band Creed without Scott Stapp.

Yep, and that's the good part. Tremonti's best guitar work to date is on this album. Thankfully he's starting to show off his solo abilities.
