March 10, 200521 yr I just got home from Viera. I met Willingham, Alfonseca, and Jorgenson and all seemed very nice. I said "Jorg" and he came over, shook my hand, talked for a couple of minutes and handed me a BP ball. I told him that I enjoyed the journal entries and he told me that he was trying to come up with "some creative sh*t". lol I think they are pretty good. Anyway Mark Little, Willingham, and Aguila played well. I think Aguila will easily make the team. We also pitched well. Bentz got us out of a jam caused by none other than Ben Howard. Nate Bump survived a leadoff double and D Train went 4 strong for the second straight outing.
March 10, 200521 yr Nice report, and that's great that you met Jorg and got a ball from him. He's a good guy.
March 10, 200521 yr since no stats are up, what did Willingham do today? *prays for atleast a hit* :mischief
March 10, 200521 yr Willis paces Marlins past Nationals Lefty tosses four scoreless frames in Florida's 5-3 win By Bill Ladson / MLB.com VIERA, Fla. -- Dontrelle Willis had one of his best outings of the spring as the Marlins defeated the split-squad Nationals, 5-3, in front of 3,510 fans at Space Coast Stadium on Thursday afternoon. Willis pitched four shutout innings, striking out two batters and walking none. The losing pitcher was Livan Hernandez, who gave up two runs in five innings. The Marlins scored the first run in the second inning. After Joe Dillon reached on an error by Vinny Castilla and Paul Lo Duca singled, Chris Auguila doubled over the head of center fielder Ryan Church. Dillon scored easily, but Lo Duca was thrown out at the plate. Auguila then tried to go to third base, but catcher Brian Schneider threw him out. In the third inning, Damian Easley drove in Jeremy Hermida with a single off Hernandez. The Marlins added a third run off John Patterson in the seventh inning when Mark Little drove in Josh Willingham with a double. In the top of the eighth inning, the Marlins added two more runs off reliever Joey Eischen. Willingham drove in the fourth run with a single, and Eischen walked Auguila to force in another run. The Nationals had runners in scoring position only three times in the game, but didn't take advantage of the situation until the bottom of the eighth inning off Marlins reliever Ben Howard. With the bases loaded and two outs, Michael Coleman blooped a singled to center field to score two runs. Non-roster invitee George Arias smacked an RBI double to score Nick Johnson for Washington's final run of the contest. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb
March 10, 200521 yr Good re-cap. Great news. But, weren't we playing against a Nationals split-squad?

March 10, 200521 yr Good re-cap. Great news. But, weren't we playing against a Nationals split-squad? 707170 I would think that they kept their regulars at home, though, and sent the weaker team on the road.
March 11, 200521 yr Willy is finally of the shnide(sp?) 707235 2 for 2 with a single and a double. :cool
March 11, 200521 yr Author The regulars were Luis, AGon, LoDuca, and Cabs. Hermida started and I got to see his 1st ever hit! Although he did drop a fly ball...he looks like he'll be impressive someday.
March 11, 200521 yr Nice to see the Marlins starting to pick up a few W's during Spring Training. Its great to see some of the young guys playing great though :thumbup
March 11, 200521 yr Author One last thing...Dillon made a diving catch while playing 1st base as he almost ran into the wall. I heard he wasn't good defensively but he looked good today.
