March 13, 200521 yr do you guys know what's the latest with Allisson?....is he recovering from his drug problem or has he ,pretty much, mailed it in? 708723 Don't hold your breath on him doing anything here or elsewhere; the Marlins would rather let him rot on the ineligible list than catch on with the Braves or some other team that has a knack for resurrection. I still think he'll pitch again in this organization, but he will never, ever, be the next "big thing" he was meant to be.
March 13, 200521 yr I dont think our farming system is one of the worst. We are #15, so we are neither good nor bad. In between, just mediocre. Basically, it is never a good thing to be mediocre, so I hope this improves. 708544 I wonder if Hermida rides a John Deer, Stokes must plant the seeds. BTW, we are 14th, not 15th.

March 13, 200521 yr :lol Yeah, so, anyway, I could see Josh Wilson nabbing a decent major leaguer. Maybe an adequate #5 like our own Ismael Valdez. Aside from that, nobody has much value. 708565 I doubt it. Josh Wilson has not been very impressive in the games I've seen him. He seems to be able to handle the routine balls, but hasn't shown he can come up with the more difficult plays. He hasn't shown that he can handle MLB pitching either. He has a ways to go before he makes to the big leagues, IMO.
March 13, 200521 yr umm... who cares if we're 14th or 15th or 28th. we had the best farm system, arguably with the cubs a few years ago. guys mature. guys get traded. josh, dontrelle (yes i know we got him from the cubs farm system to the ass that woulda tried to correct me), cabby...all part of that great farm system. and now they're helping us win every day. just like when we traded for others when we give up prospects. we got 2 titles in 7 years. more than any national league team has than world series visits. since....probably the braves in 95 and the early 90's i think. the draft will help, in the mean time, we've got one of the best products in the game for years to come and our farm system has plenty to lure an extra piece on july 31.

Some mistakes are irreversible though, like the mistake your parents made.
March 13, 200521 yr The farm system will be fine. I think we have 5 early round picks this coming June in what is considered a deep draft. No question, the World Series run took its toll on the system, but when you look at what was traded, there were no major losses. Bautista was supposed to be the best of the lot, but he's now on to a 3rd team. I'm not sure where Don Levinski is these days, but he's no longer considered a top prospect. Adrian Gonzalez may be the only player traded that may produce at the Major League level, but even he hasn't progressed like many thought he would. Our current farm system is heavy on pitching, particularly left handed pitching. I would expect this upcoming draft to focus more on position players than in years past.
March 14, 200521 yr According to my resources, there have been ongoing rumors that after the Marlins sealed Delgado for 4 years, Jason Stokes could be on the trading block. There have been several teams interested in him and do not be surprised if the Athletics make a strong push considering they are going to lose Erubiel Durazo. I believe the Marlins could trade Jason Stokes and Ismael Valdez to the Athletics in exchange for Barry Zito and Charles Thomas. Also, the Diamondbacks have shown consideration in Jason Stokes and have been in continuing talks with the Marlins if Chad Tracy can't handle the first base position. Finally, the Marlins could reacquire Ugueth Urbina for Jason Stokes if the Tigers Franklyn German can handle the setup role.
