DAN MARINO THROWING FIRST PITCH

Featured Replies

I don't mind that Marino will throw the first pitch but hadn't they said that Shaq would be the one??? Maybe since the Heat play the Bulls they decided not to use Shaq.

About a month ago they said that Shaq was going to be throwing out the first pitch.

I guess you're right, the times might overlap or something. How early are NBA players supposed to show up before a game? If Shaq throws out the first pitch then goes directly to AAA, he'd still have ~3 hours before tipoff.

or he could fake the spike and burn the defense.

If they are letting a-holes to throw out first pitches, I hope Jose Canseco gets to throw the first pitch out somewhere.

The only problem with Marino throwing the first pitch, instead of shaq, is that it might get intercepted

Its not even football season yet (thankfully for you) so no need to hate

I bet Marino could throw some heat. We shoudl give him a shot as a SU dude.

Jets fans just wish they had a Marino. I think it's great that Dan is throwing out the first pitch, there's no one better.

:lol

I'd prefer the Miami legend throw the Opening Day first pitch. Shaq can get tomorrow or something.

It's true.

Marino>Shaq

I don't care either way, but the year Shaq gets inducted into the HoF, he can throw out the first pitch on Opening Day. :notworthy

Call me crazy, but I think they should have someone somewhat related to the Marlins throw out first pitch.

They could have asked Charlie Hough :shifty

That would probably be a good idea, you know, if any of the good ones had retired yet. The franchise is only 13 years old, and Andre Dawson/Tony Perez can't throw out every first pitch.

I thought Shaq was a fun idea.

I like and respect Marino.

But, I'm not excited to have a football player throwing out the first pitch in

Wayne's Dolphin Stadium.

Exactly.

Plus it is the beginning of baseball season, they couldn't manage to find any baseball guys to toss out the first pitch?

You anti-Dolphins people really need to get your chip off your shoulder. The only person I'd want throwing out the Opening Day pitch other than Dan Marino is Jeb Bush and that's only because it might give him a special feeling that would perhaps urge the people in the state legislature to get 'er done.

Sorry, but I view it as the same old problem in this town, football overshadowing baseball. Nevermind the fact that 99 % of the people on this board weren't even alive the last time Miami football brought home a championship.

I may not be a Dolphin fan, but that has nothing to do with my opinion about the first pitch. If not a great baseball figure, then how about some extrordinary people that are not sports figures? How about 20 South Florida Iraq War veterans? Courage under fire, ability to overcome adversity. Those seem like pretty good reasons to have 50,000 people stand up and give them a round of applause.
