Mets_bs
I don't know how many saw it, but David Wright made the defensive play of the year Sunday afternoon against the Braves. Think of it as the Edmond's diving catch with his back to the plate ... only at third. On Edit: Removed LINK since WildMarlin isn't smart enough to scroll down. Accord
BUMP 816833[/snapback] Way better than Derek Jeter's over-hyped catch last year.
WildMarlinMan2003
Dont compare that to Edmond's catch. It was a nice play but not tops this year.

He's right on all counts. Wright made the best catch maybe in several years last night....Jeter caught a ball in fair ground that he should catch and (whether on accident or on purpose) couldn't stop before going into the stands, so it looked kinda cool. GiambiNYY25Fan
I certainly agree even though I'm a big Yankees/Jeter fan.... Wright went into the crowd to get that ball... nice play
Iowa
I don't like Jeter.. I never have and I probaly never will. But I can be objective... and Jeter's play is overrated. Casey Blake's catch last night was better than Jeter's, IMO.
Mark
I see better catches than Jeters in every game I watch...and I'm not overplaying that. Seriously, any outfielder having to hustle to a ball makes the same catch, they just don't keep running and fall into the crowd.
Guest Moneyball
Jeter is over-hyped period. Last night they replayed Jeter's grand slam everytime they had a chance on SC. Other players would just get their grand slams played once and that's it.
