Attendance

for early april, its not that bad. Look at some of the other teams with attendance in sub 15,000 for a game so far this season: Atlanta, Chicago, Milwakee, Baltimore, etc... Its not a big deal right now.

Yes mondays crowd was very poor but its not the end of the world

Okay thats it. You see, once people just flat out lie, I can't deal with it.

Atlanta

Lets see:

4/8: 50K

4/9: 40K

4/10: 36K

4/11: 16K

4/12: 20K

These are rough estimates, but they NEVER had a sub par 15K in attendance game this year. link

Please, if you are going to make a statement, and want to sound reasonable, AT LEAST KNOW YOU ARE TELLING THE TRUTH.

Baltimore:

4/4: 48K

4/6: 22K

4/7: 16K

link

Seriously.... Is 16K < 15K?

When people are at work or school, you can't really go to the games...now can you?

Watch an afternoon game at Chicago or Boston or LA or Arizona or half a dozen other cities. They manage to fill in the seats.

That's what I keep telling myself.

This is South Florida. Not Chicago, Atlanta or NY

I think our FO is doing a nice job of building the fan base. Give them time. They have delivered so far.

You guys should mention TV and radio ratings as well. Those have gone up tremendously the last 5 years. People are following and paying attention to this team.

It sucks. A team as competitive as we are should easily be doing 20K.

What section were you in today? How many friends did you bring with you to the game?

I think it would be hard from someone in Connecticut to make the game. :mischief

This is what I think....

Teams like Chicago and Boston have been around for years and years. The longer a team is in existence the more fans you will have because fans run in generations. If your Granparents are Cubs fans, your parents are probably Cubs fans etc: etc: Thats how those teams get so many fans...I think in about 5-10 years the Marlins will have a packed stadium almost every night...we just need to get that generation thing going :thumbup

all those excuses really don't fly because AZ is pretty similar

traffic out here is horrible and the only thing downtown are the stadiums .... most everyone has to drive 30-60 mins

there are tons of other options out here to do as well .... weather is perfect this time of year

our population dwindles in the summer

we have tons of transplants that aren't tied to the d-backs

it's a new franchise

they've won 1 ring and fell on hard times ... the marlins won 2 rings, fell on hard times and are now a very competative team

the other night the d-backs had a record low crowd against the rockies ... that was just over 20k

This is what I think....

My only come back to that is Colorado is averaging 34,000+ so far this season and they stink. Remember that we came into the league the same year as they did and they have almost always beaten us attendance wise. I'm sure things will get better as kids grow up to be Marlins fans, but you would think this generation would do a little more to support this team.
