Posted May 10, 200520 yr Ramp started this topic over at the Reds forum here: http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34525 I'm curious to see what you Marlin fans think of the idea.
May 10, 200520 yr People have to register to see that...I doubt many will see it. Copy pasting is easy. Go for it.
May 10, 200520 yr If we didn't get Delgado during the offseason, I would have said YES to this trade without a doubt and I would think 99% of Marlins fans would have as well. But we don't need TWO power hitting lefty bats in the lineup that will combine for well over 300+ strike outs. We have Delgado, so my vote is a big no.

There was a big debate on this site earlier in the year about Dunn, but I'm not a big fan of his for some reason. For Beckett... no way.
May 10, 200520 yr assuming there was room for Adam Dunn somewhere would you trade Beckett for Dunn? thats what I meant... I realize there isnt room for him
May 10, 200520 yr The real question isn't "would you" but rather "why" would you? What's in it for the Marlins? If you had proferred a trade of AJ (only for contract reasons) for Dunn there you might of had a something debatable, but from my perspective there's nothing, with or without Delgado in the mix, that makes the question worth discussing.
May 10, 200520 yr dunn is going to put up some great numbers but beckett is finally starting to pitch like the guy we saw against the yankees so IMO no i wouldn't trade him cause he is going to be the ace of this staff for the next 10-15 years
May 10, 200520 yr If it weren't for Hermida being the heir to Encarnacion in right (and being lefty) and Delgado at first, I'd say maybe...assuming we'd resign AJ. But, really, this won't happen...not by a long shot.

May 10, 200520 yr no way.... beckett will be a perennial cy young candidate for years, dunn will be a perennial strike out leader for years
May 10, 200520 yr no..... i want no part of this trade, its like asking if you want to trade clemmens for Rafael Palmeiro back in the day.
May 10, 200520 yr no way.... beckett will be a perennial cy young candidate for years, dunn will be a perennial strike out leader for years 768861 If only he had the ability to hit 50+ HRs and drive in 130+ RBIs... :plain
May 10, 200520 yr Dunn's ceiling is something similar to Jim Thome with Cleveland, Beckett's ceiling is something like Roger Clemens Clemens>>>> Thome
May 10, 200520 yr Beckett's ceiling is something like Roger Clemens 768884 I wouldn't go that far.
May 10, 200520 yr My thoughts are with many of the Marlins fans as no way. Beckett's talents rival that of almost any pitcher in the majors and he is still learning how to "pitch" and stay healthy. While Dunn rivals all power this side of Bonds, he still is not a great player in almost any other way. However, I am stil curious as to what the Reds' fans have responded to this. Can anyone summarize or copy and paste their thoughts?
May 10, 200520 yr There's no need for Adam Dunn when you have Carlos Delgado. However, you can never have enough pitching.
