Posted May 16, 200519 yr Surprised, but pleased, I didn't read anyone herein slamming Jack for yesterday's dramatic line-up changes. Anxious now to see today's line-up. I'll stick my nose out: JP CF Enc RF Cabs 3B Delgado 1B Conine LF LoDuca C Easley 2B Gonzo SS Moehler P What do you think? Want to stick your nose out?
May 16, 200519 yr I like the thought of at least trying Enc in the 2 spot. I would rather have Luis back up there but this won't hurt for a game or two.
May 16, 200519 yr Here's what I'd do: Pierre, CF Easley, 2B (assuming Luis can't go) Cabrera, 3B Delgado, 1B Conine, LF LoDuca, C Encarnacion, RF Gonzalez, SS
May 16, 200519 yr I like to see more of what we saw yesterday (at least through the LA series) with LoDuca back behind the plate and Conine in left and Aguila in right. And the sooner we can get a healthy Castillo back n there the better. Were it me I'd have a lineup of: Pierre Aguila Delgado Cabrera Conine LoDuca Easley Gonzalez Pitcher It's time to see what Aguila can do with consecutive starts (for any number of reasons) and if Conine can continue to get on base.
May 16, 200519 yr My Lineup for tonight Pierre-CF Aguila-RF Delgado-1B Cabrera-3B Niner-LF Duca-C Gonzo-SS Easley-2B I want to see Easley batting 8th because he has a better eye than Gonzo, Gonzo just swings at everything and with the pitcher next its like 2 automatic outs. Maybe with Gonzo batting 7th he will see better pitches because Easley is behind him. Just a thought :mischief2 Anyone Agree?

Guess you had no homework this weekend. Very interesting and credible strategy! Phone Jack.

May 16, 200519 yr Pierre Easley Cabrera Delgado Lowell LoDuca Conine Gonzalez id still rather have lowell in the lineup then encarnacion or aguila.. move him down or whatever but still.. id rather see that group of guys
May 16, 200519 yr All this lineup noodling isn't really going to fix the offense. As long as Jack doesn't do something insane, like bat Cabs 9th, then it won't matter where people bat, especially if we continue to not hit the ball in places where fielders can't catch them. Whether Lo Duca bats 2nd, or 6th, it really doesn't matter. I would argue that lineup noodling is only marginally more effective than, say, shaving one's head, in terms of jumpstarting an offense. Eventually, some of our guys will break out, and people will say "Oh! It's the lineup!"...and then 2 weeks later people will go cold, and we'll start noodling again until we catch fire.
May 16, 200519 yr Author Mabdul Doobakus, I knew this thread was too lively and thoughtful to last. Then you appeared with your "noodles." Noodles in your brain. And drop the terrorist name you little piece of crap.
May 16, 200519 yr If Conine can keep up what he is doing, I'd like to see him in the lineup consistently and perhaps, though strange, farther up. Lately he has been doing well at the plate, hitting a lot of singles and drawing walks. Until Castillo comes back, at least, would it be so crazy to see him in the 2-spot? If Pierre gets on base, Conine could advance him and perhaps get some RBI, then he'd be on base for the big guys. I dunno, worth a shot. I also like Hollyberry's idea of switching Gonz and Easley. Assuming Lowell is still out of the lineup, you'd have: Pierre CF Conine LF Delgado 1B Cabrera 3B LoDuca C Encarnacion RF Gonzalez SS Easley 2B P Maybe this is a horrible idea.

May 16, 200519 yr Castillo is supposed to be back today. Conine should get another start. Pierre and Delgado could use a day off. Maybe something like... 2B Castillo 1B Lowell - fat pitches 3B Cabrera LF Conine RF Encarnacion C LoDuca SS Gonzalez CF Aguila - not a statement of his abilities! just to add some punch to the middle and baserunning ability in front of the pitcher.

Sounds good except wouldn't want Enc in the two spot. Rather have Aguila get another game just because how pathetic Enc was on Saturday.
May 16, 200519 yr I dig your idea rferry. Castillo has been getting on base like a madman this season and I think Lowell would benefit from hitting in the second slot. Whether or not that results in him getting better swings is another question.

Could help Lowell out. Lowell should stay at 3B, with Cabs in LF and Conine at 1B.....all positions where they have ample experience.
May 17, 200519 yr i need cabs to get 3 more starts at 3b for him to become eligible as a fantasy 3B. my line up would be insane V Martinez Dlee Clint Barmes Carlos Guillen Cabrera Crawford Guerro Edmonds other than that i like Gonzo in the 7 spot and i like the fact that jack has gotten of the Encarnacion Wagon, 2 Grannys cant buy you a whole season of playing time

Conine's very good in left, Cabrera better at third than anywhere in the outfield. Lowell has practiced at first base before.
