July 30, 200321 yr Bring on Drew. He would be a great addition, he would be insurance for both Cabrera and Encarnacion, if they start to slow down... he would provide Lowell with relief cause then we can play Cabs at third and Drew at LF. Provides us with left-handed hitting... and from the stats i saw, not sure if they were current, drew is hitting real well with men in scoring position. If the marlins can get both Drew and Sullivan that would great.
July 30, 200321 yr guys, this is a great move, we are barley giving up anything and getting a potentially great, and consistently good (when healthy) player, with drew we also look towards the future, this makes ecarnacion expendable, maybe he can be traded in the off season, cause if we keep lowell, then we'll have an outfield of cabrera, JP, and drew, not bad...if lowell is gone, then cabs goes to third, and we keep encarnacion...either way, this is a GREAT move........AND we still have castro since we didnt deal for white, making pudges absence a next year a little less severe (hopefully if castro does what we all think he can do).......but for now boys and girls, we are one game out of the WC, playing great baseball, kicking a$$, and making an amazing play off run!! GO FISH!!!!!!
July 30, 200321 yr Cabs could start vs Lefties and give Juan and Lowell some rest. I thinkk Cabs should stay up here, but then who do you send down? Could Hollandsworth also be inlcluded in the deal?
July 30, 200321 yr good post, i forgot to mention how good this move is for the future as well. We are playing great... this trade does not hurt the chemistry and we don't give up any key players (like castro). GO MARLINS!!! :thumbup
July 30, 200321 yr This would be a great deal for us. The Cards get their starter, and we get our power lefty bat we wanted, as well as outfield support. I hope this does go down.
July 30, 200321 yr They didn't talk about this in espn bbtn so i think it's a lie! It's still on ESPN.com. Also, Gammons didn't mention it so it will happen. Every trade he mentions doesn't happen.

July 30, 200321 yr jd drew would prob be our best bet witha bat. he's a left hnder with power hey you now whats funny i think we only have like 4 or 5 hr's from our efty's this season
July 30, 200321 yr Gammons said we may just stick with Cabs..... That'd be ok with me all though I believe Drew would help us.
July 30, 200321 yr That'd be ok with me all though I believe Drew would help us. i think he'll be a hugh help for us
July 30, 200321 yr One day, Cabrera is going to be a big time player. But right now, Drew would help us out a lot, and I think our best move would be to get Drew. In fact, I say we push the envelope a little more - why not trade Encarnacion for Giles? Then you got Giles/JP/Drew with CAbs as a super sub. Whichever of you said go for Van der Wal and not Drew b/c we need a better bench is overlooking the fact that moving Drew to LF and putting Cabs on the bench augments our bench. Also, I like the idea of getting CAbs some ABs as a super-sub, playing 3B, LF, RF. Hollandsworth would be on the bench too, and our team gets much much deeper. I also like the options we have after the season with Drew - he is young and talented. I think he, Pierre and Cabs could be one of the better OFs in the league someday. En we could always trade for more pitching and deal Penny for more hitting...so many options, we are looking pretty good right now.

Interesting...Juan E has hit for less power this year and is one of the worst RF's statistically....hes still young though so maybe he could be shipped to Pitt along with others?? Any deal going that way will include Kendall, so we'd need a 3rd team to ship him too. JD Drew seems like the more likely acquisition...
July 30, 200321 yr no team is gonna take Kendall..... unless Giles goes too Giles is out of the question with this team..... Cabs has 22rbi in 111ab i think, Drew has 29rbi in 190ab i think....
July 30, 200321 yr NO I WOULD NOT TRADE ENCARNACION EVEN IF IT WAS FOR GILES I STILL WOULDNT CALL IT FAVORITISM BUT I COULDNT IMAGINE THIS TEAM WITHOUT HIM
July 30, 200321 yr I like En too, but fact is, if we could deal him for Giles (part of a package deal) we should do it. This is all speculation mind you...but Giles in RF is a huge upgrade over En. Drew in LF and Cabs on bench or in AAA?! We would be sick with talent in the OF... That said, I think a deal for Giles is highly unlikely due to the financial situation this team is in at this time. We need to re-sign Lowell and Burnett, Giles would take away from that. Besides, Drew/Pierre/Encarnacion is a damn good OF, and with Cabs on the bench, we got a lot of flexibility for the future. Some day, Cabs is going to be a good one. I see he and Drew putting up very similar numbers - only Drew will have more SBs. Right now, I am more comfortable with Drew as the starter - I think Cabs can get it done, but Drew brings much more right now. I think the team would like this deal a lot too...it doesnt kill chemistry.
July 30, 200321 yr i mean Enc is still on pace for 99rbi..... not too bad for a guy who wll hit about 17hr this year
