I'd rather have a quality right hander vs. lefty's that a crappy lefty vs. lefty's.

 

Also, Jim Mecir is basically a lefty specialist anyways with his screwball, so it's not that big of a deal that we won't have a "true" lefty.

very true, but mecir is too inconsistent for me.

We had no lefty specialist in 2003. It is not essential as long as you have a guy who can get people out on a consistent basis.
