Something will happen after tonight trust me....McKeon fired, big trade, something....watch. What have I flop flopped on? Go follow the Phils since you anger resembles Admin Bowa. 859171 What sense does that make.....Go follow the Phillies since i anger like Admin Bowa???? Huh????? Bro, Ive followed baseball a long time and this season is coming to an end. You'll see with a huge move coming soon. 859182 HHAAAOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Lol. If you guys want to starting fighting, than PM each other, doesn't belong here. WildMarlin, I think everyone is kinda jumping on ya because we see this alot where we lose and people come on here and say we are complete sellers, and this and that. I guess your timing was off because your post came on right after the Phillies had that run in the 7th. The fact is we HAVE to trade AJ, and probably either Lowell or Juan. Trading those players doesn't make us "Sellers." It is something we have to do to make the present and future better. All clubs have to do this once in a while. Besides with how this season has gone, maybe the less talent we have, the more better we will play???!!! Weird, yes, but maybe with the team having less talent they will fight more?? Who knows.

Who knows but this team IS NOT a playoff team. LAST PLACE IN HOMERS.
July 17, 200521 yr Author Who would want Brian Moehler? 859197 hmmm a cheap starter with solid numbers? yea, who would want him? 859201 Look at the hits he allows? Like 110 in 100 IP??? As a scout he would get only net a player to be named later.

He is coming back down to earth and will start being shelled again. He doesnt have any trade value.
July 17, 200521 yr Who would want Brian Moehler? 859197 overreact much? The guy was one of the best starters in baseball over the first half. Stop it already. Go take a nap or something. I wonder sometimes if there are any players on this team that you actually root for.

First off, Al Leiter got a player to be named later, and Brian Moehler has pitched just a little bit better than Al Leiter this season. Second, Moehler might give up a fair amount of hits (114 in 105 innings), but he doesn't walk people, so the amount of baserunners he allows is still down. And Moehler doesn't give up alot of home runs either, so it's not like he's getting hit real hard (.416 SLG against). He still has good numbers and overall has pitched like a solid #4 starter this year, and is making 400k. A guy who can ably step in as a #4-5 starter or a swingman out of the pen would command a little bit more than a player to be named later.

He had 1 very good year.

Leiter made 8 mil this year because of HIS PAST. Great pitcher- used to be. Moehler is a freakin' ST invitee...lol

Moehler is having a much better year (and foreseeable future) than Leiter. Therefore, Moehler would command more in a trade THIS YEAR than Al Leiter.

Yeah, who would want a pitcher for a stretch run who's having his best year ever? Really this is hurting my head.

July 17, 200521 yr Who would want Brian Moehler? 859197 hmmm a cheap starter with solid numbers? yea, who would want him? 859201 I would say if we made Brian Moehler available out there right now, there would be a line of GMs around the block looking to acquire him and his $400,000 salary (about $180,000 left for the season).
July 17, 200521 yr This is getting out of hand. Buyers/Sellers.....Lets us not forget a very talented Huston Astros team was in OUR same position last year. They hovered around .500 the whole first half, and instead of selling off what was a world series contending team they stuck together and made a run all the way to game 7 of the NLCS. Granted they made a change at manager that got them jump started. I don't know if that what we need, just an idea. But to call us sellers at this point is just silly. This team has the talent, especially the pitching to make some serious noise in the second half.

July 17, 200521 yr look you are buyers till the few days of July if you are more then 5 games out of the wild card then you are sellers. But, with the nats showing they are mortal and us not too far behind we arent sellers yet. Do I think we should shake stuff up? Yes. Do I trust Beinfest to make the right moves? Yes. Are we sellers with half the season left? No. A good team on 10 game road trip will go 6 wins and 4 losses folks. Road trips are hard because they are supposed to be. Call up the young folks, well you get great preformances like Olsen has given us 3 times before this. But, sometimes you get what he gave us tonight too. It happens, Grow up and live with it. IF you believe we are sellers then dont whine and complain for losses then anyways. Dont change your mind tomorrow. If we are buyers then keep believing it will turn around soon. I still do.

You don't think we could get several good prospects for Moehler right now if we offered him up? You're clueless about baseball if you really believe that. Since you're young, I'll chalk this thread up to drunken immaturity. I've been there when I was in undergrad.

Teams would be lining up by the dozens to deal for a solid, inexpensive starter like Moehler. His lack of a track record would prevent us from acquiring a blue-chip type of prospect, but theres no reason why we couldnt get a reasonable return for the guy. That being said, I'd prefer to just keep him and see if we can bring him back next year as a cheap, #5 pitcher.
