BURNETT AINT GOING ANYWHERE

"So the Marlins are believed to have broken off talks with Baltimore, at least for now, and are back to focusing on offers by the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays."

This is great news.

This is good news, that Orioles deal sucked from Day 1.

I would much rather take a deal from the White Sox or Red Sox, they both have players we can use.

Toronto man! That is where the gold is Chacin and Batista, they could be good for a long time :) Just Hoping.

I disagree. White Sox and Boston deals are better. Especially if we will get Anibal Sanchez and Bronson Arroyo for Burnett. Seriously Sancehz might be a better pitching prospect than Scot Olsen and for sure is better than everyone else in our farm system and Bronson Arroyp is a solid 3 who won't be a free agent until after the 2007 season.

If true make this deal now!!!!!!! Burnett also would sign a extension with Boston

Burnett for Arroyo, Sanchez

Burnett is still looked very closely by contending teams like Boston who really need him and ARE after him, the blue jays want him to.

Its going to be tough, but he will be gone this year.

agree Sanchez is the best pitching prospect thats on the table, if its true that he's on the table. I thought Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez were untouchable

Why is everyone nutting over Anibal Sanchez?

Here's is scouting report:

ANIBAL SANCHEZ, rhp? ? ? Age: 21 B-T: R-R Ht: 6-0 Wt: 180?

Signed: Venezuela, 2001? Signed by: Carlos Ramirez?

Background: Sanchez pitched well for two seasons in the Rookie-level Venezuelan Summer League, then needed elbow surgery to transpose a nerve. After missing all of 2003, he came back in a huge way, leading the New York-Penn League in ERA and strikeouts and ranking as the circuit's top pitching prospect.

Strengths: Sanchez succeeded in Venezuela when he worked at 88-90 mph, and he dominated in 2004 when his velocity jumped to the mid-90s. His fastball is also notable for its movement and his ability to command it to both sides of the plate. Sanchez also has one of the better curveballs in the system, and his changeup shows flashes of becoming a plus pitch.

Weaknesses: With an electric arm and pitching savvy, Sanchez just needs more innings and continued good health. His curveball and changeup aren't totally reliable yet, but should improve as he gains more experience. He's not physically dominating, but he generates velocity with arm speed rather than extra effort.

The Future: Sanchez will move to full-season ball for the first time in 2005, pitching at Boston's new low Class A Capital City affiliate. He might not need much more than two more seasons in the minors.

Not saying he won't be something, but he's already had elbow surgery as a 21 year old, and he isn't close to being ready. Right now, I don't think the franchise needs another pitching prospect with "growing pains." Heck, he's the #3 pitching prospect in the Red Sox organization, and the #2 RHP in a minor league system that really falls off the table after Hanley Ramirez, Brandon Moss and Jon Papelbon. Underwhelming...

This is an IDEA and not a RUMOR:

Shea Hillenbrand

Gustavo Chacin

Scott Schoeneweis

for

AJ Burnett

Mike Lowell

Yorman Bazardo

This gives us:

a starter which we will need, a great hitting third baseman, and the lefty specialist we are looking for (.176 BAA for lefties off Schow)

thoughts?

No way they trade Shea. They don't need to shed money and he's a guy they can cost effectively build an infield around...

yeah, i know. but i would sure love to have him play on my team.

Loria will not allow AJ to go the Red Sox. Too much bad blood between him and John Henry. No trust, which is vital in these things. Number 1, Loria does not want Henry to get AJ. Number 2, Loria does nut trust that if he lets Boston have AJ, and makes a handshake agreement that Henry won't re-trade him to a NL East team, that Henry would break that handshake agreement.

I don't think they would part with Sanchez... personally I agree that Toronto would be the way to go. Chacin and maybe Batista or Frank Catalanato (or however you spell it) wouldn't be to shabby. I love Arroyo, but think we could get more for A.J..

ChiSox are interesting, Marte would be great but Contreras is pricey... maybe if they put in former Marlin Carl Everett. Everett in Marte would be nice... we need to the offense and the relief help... but then were down a starter and would have to use some of our kids... which is not a bad thing. :)

that was at the begin of the season, Sanchez has pass up both Papelbon and Moss

so far in AA he's gone 14.2IN 9H 2ER 6BB 22K, this after going 78IN 53H 21ER 24BB 95K with a 2.40ERA in high Single A. the kid is pretty much at the same level or higher than Scott Olsen. He's good real good I saw him pitch in the future game, he was throwing gas and was in control....BUT again I doubt the Red Sox deal him

I don't think that we would want Shea. If Lowell leaves, Cabrera would be next in line to play third base. It's more likely that we would trade for an outfielder.

I will sleep a helluva lot better tonight knowing that we will not be dealing with the Cheap O's
