Manny wants out

Featured Replies

id trade for him, on the condition that miggy plays RF

and we can have the adventures of manny & miggy in the OF

Guys,

This is the third time in nearly four seasons Manny Ramirez has requested a trade. He has yet to be traded by the Red Sox. In my opinion, Manny will not be traded due to his large, bloated contract. But, one possibility for the Marlins to acquire Manny Ramirez is to participate in a three team trade between the Marlins-Red Sox-Twins. Here is my proposed deal.

Florida Acquires:

OF Manny Ramirez

SP Bronson Arroyo

RP Chad Bradford

cash

Boston Acquires:

SP A.J. Burnett

3B Mike Lowell

RP J.C. Romero

OF Jacque Jones

Minnesota Acquires:

3B Bill Mueller

1B Kevin Millar

RP Alan Embree

This deal would benefit all parties involved. This would ensure the Marlins a World Series. Manny Ramirez in the Marlins lineup would be dramatically better than the Yankees lineup.

Another scenario is another three team trade between the Marlins-Red Sox-Rockies.

Florida Acquires:

OF Manny Ramirez

SP Bronson Arroyo

RP Brian Fuentes

INF Desi Relaford

cash (from Boston)

Boston Acquires:

SP A.J. Burnett

1B Todd Helton

3B Mike Lowell

cash (from Colorado)

Colorado Acquires:

1B Kevin Millar

3B Bill Mueller

RP John Riedling

RP Alan Embree

These trades make sense and I would like to get further comment about these trades.

Thanks.

P.S. The D-Train is back on the train tracks and is ready to roll! He's Rick James Bitches!

Any trade that includes DFA'd pitcher Alan Embree would be a non-starter for the acquiring team.

Besides the $$$, the biggest problem with Manny's contract is the length of it, visavis the problems the acquiring team might have if his production falls off.

But it's all moot because AJ isn't going anywhere.

auughh. this thread is like a loose tooth that i can't stop playing with. it's so painful, but i keep going back.

guys - you have to understand that getting Manny will take more than a 2-month rental of AJ and guys we don't want anymore (Lowell, Reidling). We couldn't get Mueller and Arroyo for AJ and Lowell right now - why in the world would we get Manny AND Arroyo AND cash (not to mention Fuentes) only by giving up Riedling, AJ and Lowell?

Not really i have talked to a few sox fans about the trade someone had here with the Brewers, us and the Sox and they would all do it

Seems like AJ, Lowell, Enc, and Overbay would get it done

He only has 3 years left on his deal. The 4th and 5th years are team options and no team will pick them up.

Manny

06 - $19 million

07 - $18 million

08 - $20 million

09/10 - $20 million team options but I don't think there are buyouts according to the site I looked at

$1 million bonus is traded (Manny would have to waive this if he really wants to be traded)

Lowell

06 - $9 million

07 - $9 million

Red Sox get:

AJ

Lowell

Enc

Johnson

Marlins get:

Manny & cash

The Red Sox would have to pick up the difference in the contracts this year and probably give us $15-$20 million on the remaining contract. It would be a good deal for both teams, IMO. If they gave $15 million, we'd basically be paying $14 more million the next two years than we would for Lowell and get Manny for a third year at $10 million, which is pretty good, IMO. We wouldn't be able to resign Gonzo, but I'm fine with that.

I have confidence in Beckett/Willis/Olsen/Vargas/Moehler to finish out the year with that lineup. You'd call up Hermida and let him platoon with Conine in RF. All we need are two dominant pitchers in the playoffs. Only Beckett was a full time starter in our 03 playoff run. Our pitching will be fine if Beckett stays healthy. I think Willis will be fine the rest of the year.

1. Pierre

2. Castillo

3. Cabrera (3B)

4. Delgado

5. Manny (LF)

6. Conine/Hermida (RF)

7. Lo Duca

8. Gonzo

1. Beckett

2. Willis

3. Moehler

4. Olsen

5. Valdez/Vargas

I'd take that all day if Boston was willling to do it and Manny wants to play for us. :thumbup

How does Minnesota benefit?

How does Colorado benefit?

and Brian Fuentes is probably "untouchable"

1. Pierre

2. Castillo

3. Cabrera (3B)

4. Delgado

5. Manny (LF)

6. Conine/Hermida (RF)

7. Lo Duca

8. Gonzo

I'd rather Manny bat 3rd or 4th..

I mean, 5th is good too. But 3rd or 4th is beautiful..

Manny does have a place down here. So I dont think he would mind playing for us.

But, I think it would cost us ALOT to get him

Enc

Lowell

AJ

Prospect (like johnson/allison/stokes/tank/upper class prospect) (just not hermida)

Arroyo

Manny (and cash)

Basically They cover half of Manny's contract and take lowell which equals it out. AJ of course would have to be willing to sign with them and most likely would cost 2 of the above named prospects.

But, making a trade like this is counter to everything that fits this FO.

Besides everyone talking of how much the Marlins and Bosox dont really like each other. So I really think it wouldnt happen personally.

First I agree with you, but I have two points to make about these bolded staments that you may not agree with me on.

First bolded statment. I am fine giving up two top tier prospects that arent named Hermida, Lowell, Enc., and Aj. So long as they do this trade with the understanding that Aj may not re sign. Honestly I would do this without Arroyo included too. The X-factor in all of this is is Manny's attitude affecting the clubhouse? If it is than they may be more willing to just get rid of the guy. You have to at least inquire about the guy b/c ahitter like this only comes across one in a blue moon.

Second bolded statment. This would definatly go against the norm for our front office. But does anyone realize what this does for the club. The guy puts up 40 hr/125rbi consistantly. Plus it another huge well-known face in a large hispanic community. I just have a feeling that if he came here he would be very happy and content. Also, alot of the media won't touch the team with a ten foot pole so that in itself would be very attractive to Manny. Someone suggested N.Y. yesterday on the boards and I just chuckled. Also heres a thought, It technically went against norm to go out and spend a ridiculous amount of money on Delgado too, but it happened

In conclusion, I think beinfest would be fired if he didnt at least inquire as to what it would take to get him and does anyone find it strange that all the Sox fans have been so quiet about this subject?

Urge to kill rising

how this made it into page two is really beyond me

878849[/snapback]

honestly have you never heard the term killing time. If you haven't noticed there really isnt alot of breaking news going on right now and excuse people for trying to have a little fun to get them through the day. No one makes you post things. Just don't click on the topic if you think its a dumb thread. I personally am having fun playing GM waiting for the deadline to pass and I don't think I am the only one.

Just Chill Out Man.

How about

Marlins get

Ramirez

Everett

White Sox get

Bronson Arroyo

Sanchez

Scott Olsen Or Stokes Or Johnson

Red Sox get

Lowell

AJ

Enc

McCarthy and/or Marte

I think that would be a good trade(a dream trade, that will never happen, and if it does it will be my most wet dream ever), but that would help everyone out....Red Sox get there man AJ, and get rid of Ramirezs' contract, plus a good prospect in McCarthy or Marte...White Sox get three GREAT pitchers, if not ABOVE AVERAGE, and the Marlins get the power the need in the outfield....

just imagine this Marlin lineup

1. CF-Pierre

2. 2B-Castillo

3. LF-Everett

4. RF-Ramirez

5. 1b-Delgado

6. 3B Cabrera

7. C-Lo Duca

8. SS-Gonzalez

9. Pitcher

Stokes is worth nothing at this point.

Arroyo is above average, the others are PROSPECTS.

I like Manny as much as the next guy. I think he would be a great clubhouse guy(here anyway). Beinfest probably will ask what it would take, but the trade isn't happening. This is his 3rd trade request in 4 seasons. I dont want that contract either based on the fact that he is already 33. I would love him here, but I just cant see it happening.
