August 8, 200322 yr Since we signed former Brewers/Red Sox pitcher Chad Fox, I believe the time is now to demote Almanza and promote Fox to fill his roster slot. Post your opinions below.
August 8, 200322 yr Fox pitched his first Marlin inning last night with the Topes' (1IP, 1H, 0ER, 1K) Also that crazy Donnie Bridges went (7IP, 2ER, 6K) and also went 2-3 keeping his BA over .400 :lol
August 8, 200322 yr that is probablly the plan, they want to see how fox does in the minors first though, remember, this guy did sh!ty in boston this year

Sophmoric assessment. FO did well adding two veterans to "Topes. They will almost serve as coaches for the young guys we need to develop. If either veteran shows potential, we will see them. Almanza is a heart attack (but has done better lately.) Alfonsenca was a heart attack. Looper has been, too. Time takes time. Grow up.
August 8, 200322 yr Author Look, if Almanza stops blowing games and leads, then I won't hate him so much. But I think it's disturbing to go to a Marlins game that goes 13 innings, and accurately predict that Almanza is going to blow the ball game when he comes in during the 13th inning. I mean, his ERA is just under 6, and he's 4-5. The only reason his record isn't worse is because we haven't used him much in the past month.
August 8, 200322 yr Almanza STILL blows He doesn't blow. He just forgot the he threw a curveball earlier in his career. :lol In his last two outings, he's thrown his curveball, and thrown it well. THAT is why he CAN be good. It seems to me that Tejera and Almanza learned that if they didn't pitch well, they weren't going to pitch. So, when they finally got their chances, they did great. They pitched to what they were capable of, because they knew they had to, or else they wouldn't pitch at all. If anyone will go down, I hate to say it, buit it will be Phelps. Tommy is a career minor-leaguer, and Chad Fox is a vet with playoff experience.
August 8, 200322 yr Chad Fox is merely there for insurance purposes. We do not really need another right handed setup man at this point. Chad Fox needs to relearn how to pitch.

August 8, 200322 yr So you want to send down a guy who's been struggling all year, but has pitched 2 scoreless innings and has a 0.00 ERA in august? For a future GM, you don't have much common sense. If anyone is demoted, It'll be Phelps. Almanza is starting to use his curveball a little more lately, he'll be fine if he does it consistently. He's pitched well lately, so these "Bash Almanza for no reason" Threads are pretty lame.

August 8, 200322 yr what playoff expierience? when did the brew crew go into the show? Umm... He's been in the playoffs a few times. Hw about ML experience in general. A vet leader. Phelps hasn't been in the majors a year.
August 8, 200322 yr maybe instead of Alamanza we should send FUTUREGM down. He sure isn't doing us any good here :brigginbounce :brigginbounce :brigginbounce
August 8, 200322 yr when has chad fox been in the playoffs? When has Tommy Phelps been to the playoffs? When has Tommy Phelps been a major leaguer before this year? He's a veteran, and if he can pitch like he did a few years back, I'd LOVE to have him.
August 8, 200322 yr When has Tommy Phelps been to the playoffs? When has Tommy Phelps been a major leaguer before this year? He's a veteran, and if he can pitch like he did a few years back, I'd LOVE to have him. going back on your statement huh? well, guess what, they are both the same/and or around the same age. niether brings experience chad fox was a disaster this year.
August 8, 200322 yr He's been in the playoffs a few times. Josh you said this. I asked when he had been in the playoffs and you spout back with when has Phelps been in the bigs prior to this year. Stop changing subjects to suit your fancy.
August 8, 200322 yr http://www.rotoworld.com/display2.asp?spor...yers&X=5850&Y=0 great leader, so much vet in him your journalistic knowledge is really booming, see wqe do this thing called research, might try to check it out
August 8, 200322 yr Josh you said this. I asked when he had been in the playoffs and you spout back with when has Phelps been in the bigs prior to this year. Stop changing subjects to suit your fancy. I assumed as a member of the Red Sox he had been. I retract my statement. well, guess what, they are both the same/and or around the same age. niether brings experience Fox- 32 years old Phelps- 29 years old Phelps is a guy that has no prior ML experience before this year. Fox is a guy that has been in the majors a while, and has been in a playoff hunt before.
August 8, 200322 yr This is Chad Fox's first year in the Red Sox organization I believe. Do your research before making your statements Josh. Damn.
August 8, 200322 yr the brewers have NEVER BEEN IN A PLAYOFF HUNT!!! AAAHHHHH!!!! He pitched limited innings in boston, and didint make the playoff roster in 97
August 8, 200322 yr Guys, I speak off the top of my head. I'm too lazy to research stuff. BUT as a Brave, he was on a playoff contender. In his brief Red Sox career, he was on a contender. He has been in the majors longer than Phelps. More experience than Phelps. Like I said, IF he can pitch well, bring him up. Don't just bring him up for the hell of it.
