September 6, 200520 yr LOL Did you see that kid with the 'F*ck UM' shirt standing next to the two girls?
September 6, 200520 yr Ugliest game ever? Congrats to the Noles, although they sucked just as bad as Miami tonight. Weatherford is perhaps the worst FSU quarterback in the history of their program.
September 6, 200520 yr HOW BOUT THEM NOLES!!!!!!!! Its about time that the streak has come to an end and what karma for the game to end on UM f'n up a field goal, I want one of those F U shirts. I am very exciticed about this season I think that it wont be long before Lee is starting and he wont see any defenses like Miami and this FSU defense could be the best in the nation, now lets end the week on as great a of a note as tonight with the Marlins moving up and the Raiders take out the Pats.
September 6, 200520 yr Just before Monroe screwed the hold, we should have had first and goal. Since when is a player not only ripping his helmet off, and jawing at... oh shoot, I don't remember anymore... but anyway, he was jawing at another cane, not unsportsmanlike. Obviously the line judge, or somebody saw him rip his helmet off, and threw a flag. But as luck would have it. The referee, (who by the way officiated the FSU UF game in 03, remember that one.) said his helmet was knocked off. :thumbdown . I know, I know. we had plenty of chances to win the game, or tie it. But I just hate it when Bobby gets so much help. *flame away *
September 6, 200520 yr I'm a huge Canes fan, and I don't think that penalty should have been called. Now, part of that is because I think the rule, along with pretty much everything about "celebrations", is ridiculous, but I also didn't want it called because I didn't want to see the game decided by the officials on a questionable call, which it likely would have if Miami had gotten another chance at first and goal from inside the 10. Miami had plenty of chances to win that game - the officials aren't to blame for this loss.
September 6, 200520 yr The helmet was basically knocked almost completely off, so I guess when he pulled it the rest of the way off they took that into account. There were some bad calls in the game, but UM has no excuses. Wright and the offense probably had enough to win the game but getting sacked 50 times is too much. The Miami defense was dominant. Unfortunately our reliable kicking game sucked the big one. How awful were Miami's special teams in that game? Everyone's hero Devin Hester didn't do crap, UM went 0-3 on field goals, and had a punt blocked that led to the eventual game-winning FG. :thumbdown

The jawing was a little excessive though, I'll give you that one, but nothing warranting a game changing type of penalty. No way the refs had any doing in this game.
September 6, 200520 yr This is the second year in a row this game has been ass-ugly, after a string of great, well-played games. Stop this Labor Day s***. Anyway, I thought Miami looked like the better team after the 1st quarter, but they just couldn't make the big play it seemed. Both teams missed a boatload of opportunities, though. That UM offensive line needs some serious fixing, though, because they killed a lot of drives. Wright looked pretty good after the opening quarter. I think Miami has a good shot at winning the ACC after watching this game. The winner of this conference will very likely have 2-3 losses, and after watching VA Tech, FSU, and Miami, I think Miami will be the best team this year. Yes, I realize they lost tonight...so feel free not to throw that in my face.
September 6, 200520 yr Before I start, please excuse the language... f*** FSU f*** Brian Monroe f*** Bobby Bowden f*** Tallahassee ( :plain ) /rant That was not fun....Good night...
September 6, 200520 yr And sorry to anyone I may have offended with that last post... On a happy note, I'm going gay for Greg Olsen. :plain In a Moneyball sort of way. :mischief

But I just hate it when Bobby gets so much help. couldnt have been any clearer, he tore his own helmet off and nearly headbutted a UM player, f***ing ridiculous, if you take your helmet off on the field, AUTOMATIC CALL. bull s*** he thought it was knocked off. besides that it was f*** up after f*** up, special teams was a joke, including our "game breaker" Devin Hester, Monroe, Peatie, christ everyone f***ed up, O LINE horrible. wright looks promising but still looks a little scared out there.
September 6, 200520 yr very upset about this one .... i think my wife saw my first tangible meltdown over a college game (being a seahawks fan she's seen a couple already..........) just ridiculous way to lose a game ... the OL needs to do better and wright needs to learn when to get rid of the ball ... before he got sacked on that last one I was going nuts yelling for him to throw it away i think the canes have a good future and definitely let a win slip through ... sucks against any team, even more so against FSU i guess they were due for a win this century though...............
September 6, 200520 yr Prior to this game, the Noles had 2 sacks on Canes QBs over the last 6 years. :plain
September 6, 200520 yr there was a good article in the paper that said "Miami lost a game but found a quarterback." I think Wright grew up a lot in just one game. Not throwing the ball away in big situations was a glaring problem. You have to take sacks in some instances, but not when you have the ball on the 2 yard line. He's still got a lot of work to do, but facing that defense in a hostile stadium with the O-Line giving him no help, he showed me he could be a very good QB here. FSU.... well good luck with that QB situation. Hopefully the teams will meet again in the ACC title game when both are playing a lot better.

In time, I think this loss might end up being like Dorsey's first loss at Washington (in that he grew up in a big game on the road against a good team), though I don't expect Wright to lose only two games over the course of his career - he'll probably lose at least that many this year.

September 7, 200520 yr If.....IF The Offensive Line allows 3 or less sacks in every game remaining this season, The U will not lose for the remainder of this college football season.

What did Miami do that was so impressive in that game. Im totally unbiased as I dont care about either team, but neither of the teams looked that great. Miami has an easy schedule but @ Virginia Tech is a push at best and Virginia will not be an easy game either. Clemson and Georgia Tech will give you your money's worth as well.
September 7, 200520 yr I would love to see a UM-FSU rematch in the ACC Championship this year. I really was impressed by Kyle Wright's talent. He made some young mistakes and started off shaky, but clearly showed why he was rated ahead of Chris Leak in many recruiting publications. Miami is still a young team overall and if they start to gel they will be dangerous this year and certainly next year. BTW, Greg Olsen = Best TE in college football. Also, Kenny Phillips is going to be a BEAST.

Miami has an easy schedule but @ Virginia Tech is a push at best and Virginia will not be an easy game either. Clemson and Georgia Tech will give you your money's worth as well.Well, I really was that impressed by Kyle Wright. That combination between him and Jeremy Shockey Jr. looked absolutely dynamic, reminiscent of Dorsey-Shockey even, and the receivers in the second half even showed up to ball as well. The defense was absolutely dynamic and looks like it will more like Pushups Defense of old than the sloppy defense from last season. I think Monroe's days as the holder are done. The offensive line led directly to about 85% of the negative things that happened yesterday. The blocked punt wasn't Monroe's fault, the Noles were already chilling in the backfield waiting to block it when he was getting the ball in his hands. The long snapper had a rough day all around, but that was the only time it cost him. When the Noles got their 10 points, it's because the defense had a short field to work with. First and Goal inside the 5 with the game on the line, and not only do they stop them three straight downs but the kick is missed so no points get put on the board. They dropped plenty of picks, yes, but they were there waiting around the passes like ballhawks and once even a third of those drops turn into picks that's going to be 3-4 turnovers forced a game. Tyrone Moss, despite being amazing the entire game, was having to break tackles in the backfield almost every attempt. Imagine how he is going to perform if he can actually get to the line before they hit him. And poor Kyle Wright, yes he made some first start mistakes, but to orchestrate a drive like that in his very first game showed me alot. His interceptions were not even completely his fault - there were plenty of throws in the first half that should have been caught by both Olsen and WR corps but weren't, and also one of the picks was just an incredible play by Simms to just snatch the ball out of the air. And the man just didn't have time to throw, he'd hike the ball and he was already getting pressured. The defense is among the best in the country, we already knew that. But the offense is explosive enough in my opinion that if the offensive line can provide protection the Canes can dominate on both sides of the ball. We lost in this game scoreboard wise, but this is the best I've ever felt after a loss. I can't wait for the next game.
September 7, 200520 yr Having this game as the opener is a disservice to everyone involved, except the network. Unfortunately, theyd rather have ratings than a more meaningful, better played game.
