I might get a Ipod but im not sure? Who ever has one, do u like them r they worth it ?

I have a green iPod Mini... I love it but I cant download any more music because my computer is a virus magnet. My cousin has Ares sp? and I download music from there but when I update my iPod I get all his songs I hate it. Maybe I will pay and use iTunes or something

OK I have two Ipods (don't ask why). They are good. You can use them in a variety of ways. You can take your CD's and convert them (or only the songs you like) to digital files you can play on your ipod. You can download music from those sites where people share files (but beware there's a ton of viruses and spyware in those places) or you can buy songs and albums on itunes. Itunes is cool because you can just buy the song you want for 99 cents or you can buy the album and the cost is really reasonable. Usually 9.99 per album. Then you can burn a CD if you like. There's no sales tax on the purchase either which is nice. Unfortunately songs you buy on itunes are in a protected format that don't allow you to share them without authorizing use on another computer and you can only authorize a certain number of devices but there's software (shareware/freeware) out there that let's you rip files from others. For example in my office several of us have big itunes libraries. We can share the library legally in the sense that my buddy can conect over the network and play a tune in my library (this is different than tghe authorization thing I just talked about) but can't copy it. and when I log off he can't listen any more. But with this software he can just rip the song and make a copy for himself. It's called "our tunes"

I'm totally satisfied with mine though I couldn't tell ya if you could find a better investment in another MP3 player since iPods are the only ones I'm familiar with. You're just gonna have to check it out and see what you like best.

At my school, if they even SEE an iPod, cell phone, CD player, or anything else, it gets taken away, you get some card signed, and you dont get it back until your parent makes an appointment to pick it up. :plain

 

As for the iPod, I love mine, and all I do now is get music to put on it...

Well I've had a Silver iPod mini since April and can honestly say there is not a day that I go without listening to it. It is completely worth it just to have your music wherever you go. In fact I like it so much that now that I know the Mini line is being discontinued, I'm going to trade mine in to Best Buy and for $50 more I'll get a color screen and 14 extra gigs of space. :thumbup

I have a 20 gig one, and I love it, but I played with the Nano today at the Apple store in Soho; it's amazingly tiny and functional...I'm thinking about getting the 4 GB one because my iPod is 2 years old and it's starting to have a lot of functioning issues. My friend who works for Macs says the older iPods generally don't have the life expectancy of the newer ones, so it's probably a sound investment to get the iPod photo.

I don't have an Ipod but I do have a Creative 20 Gig player and I use it daily. I love having my whole collection with me.

I don't think those off brand mp3 players play the file formats (particularly) the ones itunes uses. I may be wrong.

No they probably don't, but there are a million online music stores that the file format will work just fine.

You could just convert the files from AAC to MP3.

Because believe it or not, there are some people out there that like the functionality and look of the iPod and don't mind paying the little bit extra. I had no idea is was so popular when I bought mine, so its not like I bought it because everyone else had one.

Get the Dell pocket DJ. It's 30GB and has better functionality than an ipod. Perfect example - you can play around with your playlist while listening to a song.
