accept the truth, this team doesn't have it. too late now. Once you accept reality, it is much easier to watch this games

God f***ing dammit... Our second demoralizing loss in three games... that really was a joke... The Marlins should have OWNED that game... f***ing sucks...

You're right. My expectations for the post season have gone to zero. No more pressure. Just enjoy the last 11 games and hope we win more of them than we lose.

So, who's going to be the manager next season? Because this season is over. We might as well start talking next season now.

I vote for Davey Johnson or Tony Pena. Joe Girardi would be fine too. I think all of those guys would be better than McKeon.

Remember, Benson was 0-4 and had a 7+ ERA his last 4 starts. All we could muster was two runs. Pierre's performance at the top of the lineup once again killed the offense.

I hope that loss isnt the nail in the coffin on '05, but I have a feeling it was. They can't lose more than one more game this year, and I don't think this team has a 10-1 stretch in them. The story of this year boils down to "close and late". The Marlins are dead last in the Majors in Close and Late games....They've played 84 such games and in those situations have scored 74 runs with an OPS of .639. Judging by that, we shouldn't be surprised by what happened last night. I don't blame Jack entirely for this, but I would be interested to see if that changes next year with a new manager.

I still can't help but think of where this team might be if they had even an average season from Mike Lowell. His awful-ness is going to be the lasting image from 2005 and what we do with him and that contract will be the big story of the offseason. I think we can plug some people into the rotation to replace AJ and #5 starter spot and I believe that Hermedia with regular playing time can fill in for Encarnacion, but we HAVE to get production from both 3B and LF in order to compete.

Why did he throw the same pitch he'd thrown on the previous 4 pitches? Use the changeup that made Floyd look stupid.

Because Treanor was calling the pitches.

No coach would ever allow a player, especially a non-starter, to call pitches in that situation. I bet every single pitch was called from the dugout in that at bat.

For some reason, the pitchers on this team did that alot this year. They fall in love with one pitch and it has gotten them in big trouble. You would think between the pitcher and the catcher, they would see that it's hurting them.

HUH? This isn't little league. Sure, there are times when a pitch will be called from the dugout but that doesn't happen very often. While the catcher puts down the signal, the pitcher makes the decision on what will be thrown. This is the Big leagues and these pitchers should know what to throw.

each loss just hurts more then the previous one. i almost feel like other teams are making a mockery out of us.

That 10-2 loss to the Phillies in the 9th was when I realized this team doesn't have it this year. Someone said it somewhere on these boards: If the Marlins got in, the Cardinals would crush the Fish. I had been thinking that since the whole WC chase started. EVen if they get in, the Marlins don't look like they can stack up against the other teams who made it into the layoffs easily (in either league) - St. Louis, Boston, ChiSox....

D. Lee would've snatched that ball and made the out.

But DLee wouldn't have hit the clutch go ahead home-run that Delgado did, so it never would have even gone to extras.

Yeah, okay. And let me guess...Pudge would have blocked the wild pitch? And Gonzo doesnt make the error Andino did?

Get over it. That's the team we put out there. All these if's and but's dont mean crap. The bottom line is- we didnt win. No point in comparing.

and John Boles would've had them guard the lines

Not from what I've heard and read. There is a set plan designed by the coaches which is followed by the catcher and pitcher on the field. Any variation to the sequence or any critical juncture, the pitcher and/or catcher consult the manager or pitching coach on the mound or through a series of play calls. That's why you often see a catcher turn around in the direction of the dugout.
