September 22, 200521 yr Misused (and just plain bad) bullpen, and mostly an offense that cannot take advantage of opportunities. I give them a pass lately in part because they've had so many injuries, but it's been the same story all season really. Not enough runs. The sudden defensive lapses I have no idea what to attribute to. It's disappointing, because the team used to be built around it's defense.
September 22, 200521 yr Nice season, everyone....we'll get 'em next year. Nice job, McKeon, putting Quantrill in at a critical time - shows how much you really wanted this one! Nice managing all around.........NOT. It wasn't in our cards. We would have been made fools of in the playoffs with all of our piece meal lineups and injuries and whatnot. Rest for 5 months, boys. Heal and get well. I have watched my LAST meaningful game with Jack McKeon as manager of the team. Thank you God.
September 22, 200521 yr I cant wait until next year.. Hopefully Hermi, Vargas and Olsen can get it done ::sigh:: Too many young guys?

September 22, 200521 yr Putting in Villone instead of Pulpo was a horrible move. I think Beinfest realizes what he needs to improve on this offseason. -SOLID BULLPEN PITCHERS -NEW MANAGER The offense has the right players but they are too inconsistent, I don't know what Beinfest can do about that...
September 22, 200521 yr Author Heads will roll this offseason. 958162 Pretty likely. The first season I can remember in Marlins history, where expectations were so high that just having a winning record will be a disappointment. I suppose '04, coming off the world series, was a disappointment as well, but you get a little honeymoon period after winning it all. Loria will not be happy with this.
September 22, 200521 yr Most disappointing season in all sports of all time. 958172 If the redsox miss the playoffs, they might have us beat
September 22, 200521 yr 4 runs on 14 hits. 12 left on base. This team simply cannot convert baserunners into runs. They have to be the leagues worst at this.
September 22, 200521 yr Either JP or Lowell needs to go next year... if not both. I doubt anyone will take Lowell's contract on... so he'll probably end up staying. We need to remake this team offensively around Luis, Miggy, Carlos, and Paulie. Build from there. Remake the whole bullpen except AA, Jones, and possibly Mota.
September 22, 200521 yr The 8th and 9th innings were the perfect example of what this season was. Have a lead, cough it up due to bullpen issues. Get a man on with not outs, get him in scoring position quickly. Make sure Delgado doesn't do the damage, and pitch to everyone else - who will most likely fail. Everyone else then fails. The bullpen, sent out the next inning to salvage whatever is left, can't hold even the tie because the wrong man is out in the wrong inning. Marlins lose. Have a safe ride home.

We can either get rid of Lowell and JP or one of them or we can hope and pray that both come back to form next season. Personally, I'd like to see Miggy stay at third base.
