September 22, 200521 yr Let's go D-Train. We're all behind you tonight as you make your bid for #22. :thumbup
September 22, 200521 yr Author Getting the W against Pedro would speak mountains for his bid for the Cy. Having 22 wins on this Marlins team is a much bigger accomplishment than 21 on the Cards, IMHO.
September 23, 200521 yr Congrats Dontrelle.. You just won the CY Young.. What an outing.. All I want is Carpenter for the playoffs.. Honestly.. Carp is pitching tommorow against the Brewers (no easy team!) .. We'll see if he can bounce back or not..
September 23, 200521 yr Author It's really two fantastic outings in a row. He's finishing the season just as strong as he started it. Let's see if Carpenter can do the same.
September 23, 200521 yr Author Congrats to the D-Train for being the first to win 22. 1 ER in 8 innings lowers his ERA to 2.44. Carpenter is at 2.42. Beating Pedro in NY is going to give him some momentum. Carpenter needs the win tomorrow to keep pace.
September 23, 200521 yr *hands the ball to Carpenter* now it is your turn, can you keep pace, I don' think so... CHOOOO CHOOOO..... ALL ABOARD THE TRAIN.... :lol
September 23, 200521 yr Author In some respects it's fortunate for Dontrelle that the Cards have clinched. They may not be on their A game tomorrow, and the Brewers have nothing to lose and could take some satisfaction from beating the division winner.
September 23, 200521 yr In some respects it's fortunate for Dontrelle that the Cards have clinched. They may not be on their A game tomorrow, and the Brewers have nothing to lose and could take some satisfaction from beating the division winner. Not to mention we just dropped 2/3 to the Reds on the road and our bullpen has been struggling this month.. Even if Carpenter pitches decent, I could see the pen blowing the game.. Carpenter is still on a pitch count or inning count.. At the most he'd probably go 75 pitches or 5 innings at least but we may let him go as good as he's pitching.. The ONLY thing the Cards are playing for right now is Carpenter's chance at the CY and Pujols chance at the batting title and MVP but we dont wanna push it before the playoffs either.. :confused
September 23, 200521 yr Should be 23 wins, ah well, s*** happens. Should be 24-7, remember that loss against the Midgets? I do, i was there
September 23, 200521 yr Should be 23 wins, ah well, s*** happens. Should be 24-7, remember that loss against the Midgets? I do, i was there :sigh: 1-0 Loss against the Giants/Noah Lowry :crying
September 23, 200521 yr I think voters will remember that crock-of-s*** loss in his last start and compensate him accrordingly. He may even get some pity votes.
September 23, 200521 yr Author Should be 23 wins, ah well, s*** happens. Should be 24-7, remember that loss against the Midgets? I do, i was there Could be higher. Dontrelle has lost 4 quality starts. Carpenter has lost 1. Lack of run support on occasion has hurt Dontrelle more than Carpenter.
September 23, 200521 yr Willis should get it , all of you have named several games he deserved to win . Willis pitched clutch down the playoff chase , carried the marlins on his back , while Carp pitched pressure free . All things equal how could you not vote for Willis?
September 23, 200521 yr Because I could go back to a couple games as could anyone.. What if these games the Cards would have scored for Carpenter.. July 22nd: Carpenter was in a 9 inning duel against the Cubs.. Zambrano and Carpenter went all 9 innings tied at 1.. Cardinals won in extra's. August 7th: Carpenter pitched 8 strong innings against Atlanta.. He was on the verge of losing and the Cardinals were losing 2-0 going into the 8th. Pujols would hit a HR cutting it to 2-1 in the 8th. Isringhausen would give up another run in the top half of the inning putting the Braves up 3-1. Eckstein hit a walk off grand slam with 2 outs in the 9th. No run support for Carpenter in 8 IP, 2 ER, 4 H game. August 19th - Trailed 2-0 against the Giants going to the 9th.. Give up 2 runs trying to get the 9 innings pitched but one scored on a throwing error.. Cards trail 4-0 to the bottom of the 9th. Edmonds and the Cards rally back to win the game 5-4 with a 5 run 9th inning. Ok well end that useless stuff but the thing is.. There's no reason to say.. Well he could be this record and what not when any fan of any team can say that.. The fact is.. Carpenter's last two games have been horrible and could potentially cost him the Cy Young. But if he can finish out strong I see no reason you cant vote for Carpenter. And dont give me the Carpenter has pitched pressure free. He's gone toe to toe against all the Cy Young contenders and if I'm correct he's outdueled all of them. Then again, should that even mean anything? But.. Dontrelle is getting noticed because he's pitching IN GAMES THE MARLINS HAVE TO WIN and he's pitching his behind off. Carpenter has cooled off in games that really have no meaning and that could cost him the CY. (So I guess I see the pressure stuff but still..) With that said, I think he still has 2 starts left. We'll see. The most important thing to me quite honestly.. The DTrain can win the CY Young (He's had an amazing year, not denying that one) aslong as the Cards have Carpenter for the playoffs this year
September 23, 200521 yr Ya, D Train shines in the national spotlight and gets the job done when his team needs him. He is the stopper, and always energizes the team. There is no other D Train out there--he should win an award....In fact, he should have an award named after him... The Caboose Award.
September 24, 200521 yr Author Carpenter gets the loss giving up 9 ERs. His ERA balloons to 2.71 vs. 2.44 for the D-Train. Chris has one more start, Dontrelle two. Dontrelle's magic number is 1 to finish with the highest win total in MLB.
