According to BenMaller.com lenny harris wants to keep on playing hopefully he keeps on playing in a marlins jersey.Lenny Harris is the all-time pinch hittinfg champion not to mention born in Miami.He is a great addition to the team he can still bat if he does retire soon i want him to retiere in a marlins jersey.

I was down on Lenny after his .211 performance in 2004. But I have to admit he had a pretty good 2005, hitting .297. That's not too shabby for a guy off the bench. I'd like to see some of the young players get a chance, but wouldn't mind seeing Lenny get a shot at making the team in ST next year.

Dewd, time to retire. If you want to stay around the game you get a coaching job like Mordy did.

A good bit of it will depend on whether Jack is back. If Jack returns, then Lenny will be on the club.

Considering Lenny hit .296 in a pinch hitting role, 20 points better than second (Conine) and far and away from the rest of the bench this season, I'll welcome him back. He's still the best at what he does.

The way the Sun-Sentinel article sounded today, I wouldn't back on him returning. But that's just my interpretation of it.

ATLANTA ? Whether it's with the Marlins or elsewhere, Lenny Harris wants to keep playing in 2006.

 

Harris laments the fact he wasn't able to contribute more to a team that many expected would dethrone the Atlanta Braves. While Harris took 16 pinch-hits and a .302 average into the weekend series at Turner Field, this season has left him unsatisfied.

 

"When I leave I want to feel like I ain't got nothing left," said Harris, who turns 41 next month. "I have super unleaded up in me."

 

Though Harris has appeared in 75 games, his lone start came June 19 at the Los Angeles Angels as a designated hitter. Last season, Harris made 11 starts.

 

The last two seasons Harris has made the club as a non-roster spring training invitee. His preference is to remain at home and play with the Marlins, but he'll look for work elsewhere if they don't ask him back.

 

Harris insists he can still play both corner outfield spots, second and third, without embarrassing himself. Including Mike Lowell, who the Marlins started at second Friday, they've used four guys there to fill in for Luis Castillo. Harris hasn't been one of them.

 

"I feel disappointed in myself in that I know I could have done more," Harris said.

 

"It eats me up inside. ... I was hoping I would get some starts, but I didn't. I felt bad because I couldn't help the team the way I wanted to. I felt good this year. I haven't felt like this in a long time, and that just tells me there's a lot to look forward to."

I have no problem inviting him to ST again as a non-roster invitee. I'm sure Lenny would accept and then look elsewhere if he doesn't make the team.

I've always been a supporter of Lenny Harris on this board, even when the vast majority of people here thought he should be jettisoned.

 

That said, now that he's made it to 200 and beyond, and reflecting on our failed September effort that would have been aided by having a bonafide ML-experienced sub who could play D as well as hit off the bench (for me this season went down the drain/coincided with Damion Easley being victimized by the grounds crew at PPS) and let's face it Lenny is a one-dimensional player.

 

Next season, having learned our lesson regarding roster management, time for Lenny to retire.
