September 30, 200521 yr Just got back from the first Panthers home pre-season game, it was f***ing awesome. The sport is so much better than before and the players were really going all out even though it was pre-season, lot's of big hits and Mezei beat the sh*t out of some dude on the Canes. The game is a LOT faster especially through the neutral zone and with the goals and blue lines moved back there is a lot more action in the offensive zone. The shootout at the end was awesome, everyone is going to really love this. On the ice they had "THANK YOU FANS!!!" painted on both sides so everyone could see it and every NHL fan in all 30 NHL cities will get their own replica Stanley Cup on opening night which is going to be awesome. It was so nice to be able to yell "PANTHERS....... GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL" again.
September 30, 200521 yr Awesome! We will be there on Friday, the 7th. Let me know if you wanna meet up.
September 30, 200521 yr Three things. 1.Did they call alot of minor penalties? I think when the preseason started some games had 25 power playes! That is way to much and actually hurts the game. 2. How did the defensemen guard guys infront of the crease? I thought they werent allowed to hit them anymore. 3. Shootouts are cool, but I bet come midseason the novelty will wear off and it will just be an average thing. Although not having ties will be nice.
September 30, 200521 yr I think I read they called 18 penalties on Carolina & 15 on Florida... so the teams are going to have to learn to adjust to the new stricter obstruction rules. Sounds like the Panthers coaches were very happy with the look of the team though. :thumbup I can't wait for opening night though, just got my tickets in the mail!

That is going to ruin the game if they call so many.

Another reason I can't wait for the 7th to get here. I think I may be looking forward to this Flames-Jackets home opener more than any live sporting event I've ever been to. The atmosphere is just going to be ridiculous. Hopefully, we don't get pwned by the best team in the West.
September 30, 200521 yr I actually got to hug the real Stanley Cup for whatever its worth. They have it in the Hockey Hall of Fame surrounded by a heavy duty security system. You are allowed to touch and see it. I can't wait to see the new NHL!
October 1, 200521 yr Author I actually got to hug the real Stanley Cup for whatever its worth. They have it in the Hockey Hall of Fame surrounded by a heavy duty security system. You are allowed to touch and see it. I can't wait to see the new NHL! The one on display at the HHOF isn't the real one, it's just a full size replica. The real one during the summer months is constantly traveling around with the players who won it and during the winter it's traveling around the world for everyone to see, it's only at the HHOF for a period of a few weeks during the season.

October 2, 200521 yr Panthers won today 4-0 over the Lightning with Luongo getting the shutout to finish the preseason 3-2-1. Goals by the Killer H's-Hagman(2), Huselius, and Horton. Dont know how many were actually there, but nice to see announced attendance of 15,000+ at the BAC.

Dont know how many were actually there, but nice to see announced attendance of 15,000+ at the BAC. I was at today's game. Two of our goals were short-handed scores, the first one was just about 25 seconds into the first period. Luongo was sharp in net; he was peppered with over 30 shots today (actually he did let in two during the shootout demo). I have to give credit to the penalty kill today; they survived three different 5-on-3 situations today, one in each period. The Cats got called for an awful lot pf penalties today; seems for like every one call made on Tampa Bay, five were called on us. But we'll take the win to end the preseason on an up-note.
October 2, 200521 yr Now that the marlins ended today, its time for the panthers on wednesday! Atleast in hockey 8 teams make the playoffs so there is a good chance we can crack a spot

Ban staff is locked and loaded. :mischief I was so happy to see the outcome of today's game. That was about the only preseason game of which the game is close to being as it will be opening night. And I can't wait to see Olesz in action! He has been getting some serious praise from scouts around the league and veterans at the camp. I can't wait!
