Amber S. Jennings, 32, who admitted this week that she e-mailed photos of herself naked to her former student, also criticized the boy's mother who reportedly said she wants to cash in on the incident with a civil suit. ``It is just unfortunate that she would go so far as to ruin her son's life in order to profit,'' Jennings told the Worcester Telegram and Gazette this week. Jennings pleaded guilty this week to disseminating harmful materials to a minor and was sentenced to two years probation. Jennings told the paper she's writing a book about the case. Jennings met the boy while teaching English at Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley. Authorities say they started out as friends but things heated up in late 2003 when the boy was 16. The two started having sex, videotaping their romps and e-mailing naked photos and messages to each other, according to court documents. The boy told authorities the sex was consensual. ``It was just an idea I had to tape it,'' the boy told authorities, according to court documents. Jennings admitted this week that she e-mailed naked photos of herself to the boy. The affair lasted until July 2004, when the victim's mom asked him about an online chat with Jennings. Jennings, who has two young girls, lives in a secluded lakefront home in Sturbridge. She declined comment last night. Jennings underwent a psychiatric evaluation in January and it was determined her risk for future sexual violence is ``very low, if not nil.'' During the same evaluation, she told the doctor her marriage to Russell Jennings, her high school sweetheart, was ``somewhat strained as of late.'' Under the new agreement, Jennings pledged to stay away from the victim and surrender her license to teach public school in Massachusetts. She must undergo evaluations and treatment as a sex offender. Kid hit the jackpot!

October 2, 200521 yr Got it bad, got it bad, got it baaaaaaaaaad! I'm hot for teacher. Well, my advice to Jennings is don't be "friends" with sixteen year old kids. Do your job, joke with your co-workers and go home. Find people your own age or younger people at a bar to sleep with. I can't say where I stand on this issue because on some level the kid ISN'T the victim. They want it. But then it's ambiguous, sixteen year old kids should be legal anyways, I just don't think they should be gettin' legal with people who are supposed to be supervising them and teaching them. I don't know. It's more decisive than abortion that's for sure.

I have no idea what the circumstances were here. Maybe you're right & she was a nympho, but there are also situations where a husband neglects his wife (& vice-versa), she becomes miserable and winds up looking elsewhere for comfort/sex/whatever. I've seen it happen. Not absolving her of blame, I have no idea what the deal was here. Maybe the husband is heartbroken. I just think there are times when it's just as much the other person's fault.

Then is it a tragedy? Go back and read every newspaper article on that issue. There is a clear bias in media and public perception that male student female teacher is funny and ok, but that if its a male teacher and female student its a cause for serious concern. Consent is irrelevant in the latter case in terms of perception. I'm not making this up, it just seems to be the trend. IMO theres a thin line between the rights of the 16 yo and the rights of the teacher. For example, a teacher sleeping with an 18yo student should not be acceptable simply b/c of the fact that the law gives a sort of caretaker status to the teacher. If the teacher sleeps with a nonstudent that is 18, or 16 i think it should be ok. Then again I dont know if as a parent id want my 16 yo to be sleeping with a 30 year old at all.
