Marlins working on a deal?

Featured Replies

no you can still make trades through waivers after August. The thing is the guy you acquire is not eligible for the playoffs.

The phones are heating up!!!! It appears the Fish could be getting_____________ from the Pirates. The rumors are the Marlins are working overtime to acquire______an Ofer from Pirates. Don't get crazy e-mailing me with who is it and type mail. I don't know but the teams are talking. This could go down to the wire. :w00t

EdCanes,

Where exactly are getting this information?

EdCanes,

Why do you care? His info is always accurate. Well, where does he get it from then? I'm curious....Is it so wrong to wonder where he is getting this kind of info?

September call-ups on hold for minor league playoffs

Reggie Sanders is likely to stay with the Pirates for the rest of this season. (Rusty

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have been among the most active teams in the trade market this season, but it looks as though the dealing -- at least for the next month or so -- could be completed.

Pirates general manager Dave Littlefield said that there remains a possibility that a trade could be made before midnight, Sept. 1 -- when playoff rosters must be set -- but the odds of such a deal going through are not very good.

"It's probably unlikely," Littlefield said on his weekly radio show. "We continue to talk to other teams and you are always in a position where you want to see if there is something out there that makes sense. But with where we're at at this point in time, I'd say it's unlikely."

According to a report published Sunday in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette , the Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed veteran outfielder Reggie Sanders off of waivers in the hopes of landing him in a trade by the end of Sunday. But it appears that the Dodgers have not been able to come up with a prospect to Littlefield's liking, which doesn't surprise the Bucs GM.

"The reality is, the opposing GM -- if he is looking to acquire a player -- is basically renting a player for a month," said Littlefield. "How much are you willing to give up for 30 days of service?"

While it is likely that the Bucs will lose Sanders through free agency after the season, Littlefield said that he would rather keep the team's leader in home runs throughout the rest of this season in an effort to field a competitive team, rather than give him away for a marginal prospect.

"As GM and someone who is involved with putting a product on the field, you want to keep making improvements with the Pittsburgh Pirates," said Littlefield. "You may say, 'What's the difference between winning 75 games, 72 or 78 games?' But frankly, we've shown that since we've made trades we've been able to remain competitive. That's all part of the evaluation."

Well we will just need to wait 2 more hours and see what we can get(check out if we got anyone).

First time since '97 that we Marlin fans have had a night close to this. Will anything be done?

This won't happen but the Dodgers & Angels ESPN's boards were offering the notion of Scott Spezio coming to the Fish(for prospects, future considerations). No official links, just an idea.

I'm kinda lost when does this end tonight at 12:00 or monday at 12:00.

It's monday at 12:00. Which is about 2 Hours from now. :p

Nothing yet still BUT I found out tonight that JD Drew will be on the Marlins radar in the offseason again. The red birds appears will NOT offer arbitration to him and might let him go. I had heard they would and then trade him but either way the Marlins will be in line for his services.

so who are we waiving bye to?

Enc or Pierre?

or Lowell?

wonderful...

i love DL DREW
