Firefox $hit Out

Featured Replies

My Firefox browser, in the past hour, deleted all of my bookmarks and resulted back to default settings as far as toolbars that I view, icon size, etc. I then configured it back to how I like things, closed firefox down, and when I start it back up...it doesn't keep any of my changes.

I have also uninstalled, and re-installed Frefox, but the same things happen.

Anyone have this problem before or know how to help?

It has happened to me before. I did a reboot and it stopped deleting all my bookmarks, cookies, etc. But it hasn't been the same since. I still have to log in everytime i enter this site and a few other sites as well.

Does it revert back to its old settings everytime you get back on it? It is saving nothing I tell it to do (toolbars, icons, search engines, etc).

Happens to me a lot, have no idea to fix it.

Probably has to do with which user-profile you are using when you start Firefox. You must have been switched to a default profile. I don't remember how to switch your profile, but maybe someone else does.

It has happend to me also. A screen came up saying I had to choose the user settings and only default was available. I clicked on it and it reset stuff. I reimported the bookmarks from IE but it was pretty annoying as they were old. But this time I saved the user. I know it did it again but I think the user was saved. Firfox is really annoying with this.

This was more then just having the wrong profile up.

I had to boot into safe mode, reset everything, reload the regular browser and so far its been fine now. What a pain in the ass though.

Meh, i use maxthon... ive tried to switch to FF so many times, but im just so good with this one.. try it out, it simple but great, you can get most of the same plugs....

did you update to the latest version lately? may have something to do with it.

Nope.

That's why I use IE.

One mess up in over like 2 years of use. Plus, I actually got a backup of my bookmarks, so its basically the same.

Agreed, I can never go back to IE, I hate it when I use a comp that doesn't have firefox.

I would imagine ie will be alot better in the next version, but FF is way ahead right now. What I do notice is that there are some issues with missing components in FF and I can't seem to download them.

ya IE is trash, i love how they are missing technology that FF has had for quite a while now.

plus add in the bugginess of IE along with the constant deal with popups, which are annoying as hell, though I could solve that with a pop up blocker...though FF has one built in....

Check to make sure your firewall/internet security isn't so high that it's prohibiting Firerfox from opening.

The computer guy here just updated Firefox. I am gonna have to let him know what's happening.

Go to Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks>Tools>Export and then backup your bookmarks so you never lose them again.
