Marlins expos series

Featured Replies

I'm kinda worried for our pitching. Puerto Rico has crazy astro turf and 340 feet power alleys. Pudge(homeboy) and Lee are sure to hit homer runs here, but our pitching, especially Dontrelle, may get racked up

Probably more so because of our dozen Hispanic players. Ray Castro makes his home"cum"ing and Pudge will be playing at home too.

I was going to start a post on this topic and it wouldn't have been positive. I don't like this series or the next six games. First off, the Spos hit lefties real well.

Here's what there players are hitting against lefties

1.Wil Cordero .344

2. Jose Vidro .327

3. Jamey Carroll .276

4. Orlando Cabrera .304

5. Brad Wilkerson .320

6. Endy Chavez .289

7.Vlad Guerrero .388

AND with the Marlins starting two lefties(Redman/Willis) in this series in that bandbox and fast surface . It might not be pretty. Also the Spos know this is do or die for them. Its going to be a fight people, the bats better get hot. Especially niner's bat

I think this next roadtrip might be a little rocky. San Juan and New York are both places we may have trouble in.

1) Expos do well in San Juan.

2) Mets have been awfully hot lately.

We have never played in Puerto Rico but i still expect the Marlins to do well. Penny will start one of those games and he has been very good. I know Castro will probally start one of the game since this is his home country and he has been hitting the ball real good. The phillies have an easy team that has been struggling mightly ( Mets) this season so we need to keep up with them by winning this series.

The more rain the better, the faster the two lefties get out of the game with none to limited damage the better I like our chances against the Spos bully. I like our bully over Spos bully

I too dont feel very good about this series. I also noticed the lefty prowess the Expos have, and combine that with our below average road record - you have a recipe for disappointment. Also, we have won what, 7 straight against the Expos? It is pretty ridiculous and you know something is going to give. Not to mention, they are trying to stay alive - I dont think they have the weapons though (mainly, consistent pitching, which we are riding all the way). If we take 2 of 3, it will be a miracle by my estimation. I dont like the way this is shaping up, but I do like our chances, ironically, against the Braves.

A lot of people are talking about how the Marlins have over acheived this season. I don't think we have over acheived. We lost basically one player (a damn good player too) but I expected this team to contend for the playoffs. On the other hand, I think the Braves have overacheived! High ERA. Big years from guys like Giles, and Lopez. In the playoffs there is better hitting, and if the Bravos are not in a position to bring in Smoltz (notice he only comes in in save opps) they might get upset early.

As for the Expos. Its like were going to war. Don't worry about the score, just steal some wins.

I bet Dontrelle hits one out on Sunday!!!

I agree. the Braves have overacheived.

The Marlins are playing on pace for what the front office promised at the start. Didn't Samson predict 90 wins?

I would think the Marlins would have the "home field" advantage in Puerto Rico. We have more latin players, and Castro/Pudge are from PR.

D-Lee: 3 HR's

Cabs: 2 HR's

WC the Spos have there own PR power in Vidro and Vasquez(Sunday starter) plus if the Spos go down they'll go down swinging with there two best starters going in this series.

I predict we take at least 2 of 3. The Expos are in a downslide, and today our offense exploded in the late innings...Hopefully we can carry that over to Hiram Bithorn.

BTW,A San Juan newspaper ("el Nuevo Dia") talks of the Expos for next season in San Juan.

The promoter of the games of "Los Expos en Puerto Rico", (the Expos in Puerto Rico),Antonio Munoz is proposing a deal with MLB to administrate the Expos for the next 3 years with a different name with an option on buying them.

Sweep.

And McKeon should give Castro a start in this series. Just because I'm sure Ramon would LOVE to play a full game in his home.

Now tell me how you expected this team to contend for the playoffs even without their best pitcher.

NO WAY! Ivan Rodriguez is the most popular Puerto Rican player in the island. Ramon shouldn't start over Ivan on this series at all.
