What will happen?

So with the Marlins attendance as low as it is. It will be hard for the Owner to make money on this team. Do you guys beleive honestly that a new stadium in the right place would increse attendance? What else would it take? I am watching the Mets vs. Phillies game on TV and the Mets announcers are calling the Marlins Fans pathetic that "they're in a Wild Card race and still can't draw a crowd". You see the Cubs and their sellout on an afternoon game like ours... it looks bad.

Attendance is not the problem, the lease at PPS is. The Marlins only get about 5-15% of the concessions depending on what it is, only 50% of ads/sinage at PPS, and nothing from parking. A better lease could make us profitable, a new ballpark even with the same attendance would still turn a profit after 10 years or so of use and being paid off.

Chicago has had the Cubs for 100+ years. We've had the Marlins for 10. Not quite long enough to become a "baseball town" such as Chicago.

But none the less, when you're in the lead for a playoff spot, you expect to draw at the least 15K a game.

Cape even if they had a great lease, what good would it do when 10,000 show up for games????

Even a freaking playoff race has proven unable to consistently draw fans. Once the DTrain hype wore off it's back to normal here. South Florida fans show up for F'ing bobblehead night and Luis Castillo bat night and Juan Pierre F'ing lunchbox night and F'ing Kevin Millar Deer Urine Stained Helmet Night and that's about it.

Other than that you hope for a weekend series against a popular team like the Braves or Mets or Giants. That's it.

That was one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Wow.

:lol

F'ing Kevin Millar Deer Urine Stained Helmet Night.

Damn I missed that one :banghead

we might get 20,000 a game for the braves series. Too bad half the fans will be braves fans. :banghead

I'm going to be filling half a section in the Fish Tank the 13th. Bring the Braves!

The revenues from the world series games will be enough to maintain the team for next year :shifty

It was the Pirates...

Wait till the braves, phillies series.... it will be packed.

No it won't. Unless you consider 10-20K packed.

South Florida does not deserve this team, plain and simple. I'm beginning to think more and more that there is no way a new stadium gets built down here.

I agree with you, there are not enough strong reasons to build a stadium. That's the sad reality. South Florida doesn't give a damn about this team.

Every Braves series this year has gotten 20K+ a night virtually every night.

There are many reasons why we get lousy attendance:

We haven't been around for a long time, so a lot of fans are Yankees, Mets, Cubs fans.

The stadium is nothing special in the middle of nowhere

The skies are always threatining (it rained a lot this week!)

Miami is the poorest big city in the country

There is no transit to get to the game

The fans have felt betrayed

Steroids, astronomic contracts, and strikes (not pitches)

Meanwhile, if you've ever been to Wrigley, you know why they always sell out.

They love the summer up there, cuz its frozen in the winter

They play in a beautiful neighborhood, with a beautiful stadium

It Wrigley Field

Corky Sosa

Giant city

Cubs' have$$$

The L Train

Good beer

Every where else in baseball isn't THAT much better than us

They are having these problems throughout baseball

THEY GOTTA GET OUT OF THAT SKANKY LEASE.

THE LEASE IS FINE!!! NO IT ISN'T

THEY GOTTA GET OUT OF THAT SKANKY LEASE.

THE LEASE IS FINE!!! NO IT ISN'T Willie,

Could you please back up your argument with a valid reason for once. What makes you say the lease is FINE!? With the lease it's almost impossible for the Marlins organization to make any profit.

yea the marlins dont get much money of pro player so thats why they depend on attendance alot. If we do get a new stadium we will get more people but we gotta find the right place for it.
