when you go to boston or new york, EVERYONE is either a yankee or a redsox fan, in south florida, its hard to find a baseball fan in general, then its even harder to find a marlin fan, the main reason is no one liked the marlins to begin with

What excuse do we have now?

- PPS SUCKS. there is no baseballe athmophere (BULLS**T, have you been to any games? even with 12K crowds the place vibrates with exitement)

- Driving to the PPS suck (BS # 2)

- We don't know if the ownership is commited (BIG BS excuse # 3)

- We don't have a good product on the field (BS # 4)

- Wayne destroyed the fan base (BS # 5)

 

This year can't be any better. These excuses are getting old, I'm afraid that we may be loosing our team.

I think they need to make a new stadium fast.I mean,who is going to go to the middle of nowhere unless they have plans to go there?I believe that if it would be placed in downtown or some other area where a lot of people go to often,they would just see the stadium and maybe want to go there even if they don't have plans.

Unfortunately, this is prolly how a lot of people feel. So of course, the answer to this problem is to......not go to the games? I don't get it. "Jeez, I'd like to support this team, but the low attendance tells me that they won't be around much longer." Well, if YOU started going to the games, the attendance would rise, wouldn't it?

The Marlins' problem isn't Pro Player Stadium; the Marlins' problem is their lease with slumlord Huizenga, which makes it virtually impossible for them to make money there. That's not a ballpark issue, it's a negotiating one. It has nothing to do with markets, or player salaries, or competitive balance, or any other damn thing. It's simply an arrangement that never should have been allowed to occur, and for which the baseball fans of south Florida have suffered.

I think the fans in Miami need to stop playing the victim card and get out to the ballpark. The next homestand is a 3-game weekend series against the Braves. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! I will try to attend one game if at all possible for me.

The lease won't allow the team to make money, but showing support is what the ownership wants right know. They will try to rework the lease if they can't get a ballpark.

im not saying its an excuse, im just saying its helped keep this team from growing. obviously the lack of attendance is disturbing and make things worse. but the few fans that do go arent really contributing to the team because of the lease

This may be crazy, but what if we get a temporary ballpark similar to Colt Stadium? (Houston Colt. 45's) It was cheap, served it's purpose and (not counting the weather or bugs in Texas) was very pleasant for the fan.

But that was because of the weather, bugs, and it not being covered. We would not copy it, just use the idea of a temp. ballpark.

What I am saying is you build a modular ballpark and install the pieces you need as you go. MLB only requires 25,000 seats for an MLb ballpark or is that 30,000? Anyway, it can be done.

 

That would be last case scenario if we can't get a fair lease.

I would estimate the cost of a ballpark similar to Colt Stadium these days would be around $19 million just for construction. The Marlins could try to re-negotioate a plan for constructing the park at the Miami River location. Remember, the Marlins tried this earlier but could not work out a deal due to the tremendous cost of building a "non-temp." stadium. We could pay rent payments for a couple years until we have made enough profit to construct a permanant ballpark.
