Yankees may deal for Willis

April 2

New York Daily News (scroll down): "The only question is when will the Yankees bring in a replacement rotation, headed up by Florida's Dontrelle Willis?"

New York Post (registration required): "The most interesting names on the market will be Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. The Marlins will decide it is not worthwhile to pay them a combined $15 million in 2007."

If the Yankees had someone to trade in their system than maybe this rumor could be taken a little seriously. Everyone in baseball knows the Yankees have dug themselves in a massive hole when it comes to trading for talent. The only way they can add talent to that team is by shelling out money, and even in that sector it appears as if they have reached their limit.

The New York media could go to hell along with the Mets and Yankees.

this is how the new york media works. nothing to get worked up about.

I remember us saying the same thing in September when Gammons and such began to talk about trading Delgado to the Mets. :lol

:lol also, gammons isn't part of the new york media.

it wouldn't surprise me to see either dealt within the next two years.

Me neither, but it would shock the hell out of me to see it happen at this year's deadline.

Welcome to South Florida baseball

They'll only get traded if there isn't a new stadium or a relocation, so yeah they'll be traded but I'll enjoy them while I can.

I could see the Fish dealing both of them, but I don't think the Yanks have what the Marlins woyuld be looking for.

if they offered us like $300mil for dontrelle i'd be down.

HELL YEA! In a second! :lol These deals may happen in the future if we cant secure a stadium... But not this season..

we can trade dontrelle and cabrera for a $450 million stadium. that's about equal value.

pssssh....trelle and miggy for 450 million and monument park

The Deal is in the Works

Later this week florida marlins veteran ace could be traded to the yankees for a new ballpark. Right now Brian Cashman is finding the land to have it built on and contractors to start building. The trade is looking to cost the yankees around $500 million. When King George was asked for a comment, all he said was "My team is built to win and Cashman and I feel that Dontrelle could be a big part of that." When I asked Cashman if he had any other deals in the works he said, "George plans to buy the Nationals." The only thing I could make from that was that they wanted some talent to trade for other promising players.

SOURCE. NOW.

I'd trade Cabrera and Willis for stadium. Otherwise, there's no way in hell they should be traded.

truth.

there is no source. he made that up. he was trying to be funny.

i don't care! make a fake source! i'm exctied!

I see that the moronic wishful thinking NY Media has started early this year. LOL. I have to say this..I have never seen any group of disreputable storytellers make so much money off of the art of pulling S%#T out of their a$$es. Maybe it's a reflection of the type of people that live in NY.

I think that the fish will have a new owner before Miggy and D-Train are dealt.

Has anyone in NY reported that every lineup, including the young Marlins' lineup, are licking their chops to face those 2 NY pitching staffs filled with overpaid has-beens or never-will-be's? When the Mets roll into town, I know that I will actually have a chance to get a Chris Aguila bomb off of one of those bums.

It's a reflection of the type of people that live in NY - specifically Manhattan.

If we can get someone like Cano and a prospect then i'd do it..it wouldn't hurt to have an above average second baseman..and we can replace D-Train with one of our minor league pitchers..no need to sweat..Beinfest knows best.
