April 15, 200620 yr Because Andino arguably has no future with the Marlins I strongly disagree with you here. Listen, he's good, and he has the potential to be a B player in the Majors, but Hanley Ramirez will be our SS for a long time, and I dont see Uggla going anywhere anytime soon Uggla has impressed me to but Scouts project this guy as a bench player. Andino has gold glove potential, the ability to steal 20-30 bases each year, potential to hit for average and 10-15 HR's and is either 3-4 years younger than Uggla. Andino was arguably our second best hitter in spring training and is currently hitting .321 at the age of 21-22 in AAA. So trade him for a center fielder
April 15, 200620 yr Reed and Amezaga need to be sent down Cepicky and Andino need to be brought up Amezaga has looked great as a pinch hitter so far. and he provides insurance if Hanley or Uggla need a break at the end of the game.

April 15, 200620 yr Lol because of what scouts say, we should trade him? Does Uggla have to hit .320 with 20 homeruns and 100 RBI's to prove himself? I think his play is proving the scouts wrong.
April 15, 200620 yr Brewer hitter Ks....man still at second with 1 out now Man is that random. What does it have to do with this thread?

April 15, 200620 yr Good day for the pen. Good to see D-Train's first win even though he pitched much better against the Mets and Astros.

April 15, 200620 yr People are ignoring the fact tha Uggla has the chance to prove alot of people wrong and become a good MLB player. He'll have solid defense under Perry Hill, he has a strong arm(as I think Ramp has pointed out on a few occasions), we know he has the potential to hit for power and a decent average. That rule V pick has the potential to become a hella good steal.

April 15, 200620 yr Great job by D-Train to hang in there when getting into trouble (stranded 13 Nats on base tonight :thumbup ). It was also a great job by this team to battle back when being down 2-0. Chris Aguila has looked sharp the last few games and is proving to be invaluable while Hermida has to sit out a few games with the injuries. And what more else can you say about Josh Willingham?!? :thumbup :thumbup
April 15, 200620 yr I'm sure if you weren't there most of you watched the game on tv and if you did you saw some pretty good D out at 2B. Not flashy, not all-star caliber, but servicable and getting better with every game.

I like Uggla, in fact he has really impressed me so far and I love to watch him play but long term as of right now I rather have Andino. OFF TOPIC Hey jsprt05 have you heard anything new on Allen Baxter and Scott Nestor? do you know how there rehab is going or how they are doing?

But he also needs to learn the 2B position. It certainly isn't a problem that we have two defensive studs @ SS right now, who fought tooth and nail with the bat to get the starting SS position. That said, Andino was the odd man out. And he didn't handle it well. Let's see how Andino takes to the new position before we dropkick Uggla out of the starting spot, since Uggla himself has shown alot of promise and also that he is not a stone statue out there with the glove. Long term=Andino, I'll agree. But dont be suprised if Uggla is still manning 2B fulltime when we make our next playoff push. I look at him, I see Mark Grudzilanek(when Grudz is having a good year) potential, and there aint a thing wrong with that.
April 15, 200620 yr The Goods: Dtrain battled back, Bullpen looked GREAT (got out of jams), Aguila showed he can start everyday now, Hammer bomb, We won! The Bad: Left many people on base, got out-hit... BUT WHOS GIVES A CRAP WE WON!
April 15, 200620 yr It's odd that Andino has been playing SS at AAA. I would have expected the organization to start to develop him at 2B.
April 15, 200620 yr Just back from the game! Boy I thought we might be in for a long night after those early innings from DTrain but somehow he was able to get through 5 innings. Great work by Carlos Martinez once again. and what have I been saying about Chris Aguila, eh?!! Woohoo! Who was it that wanted a clutch hit from him?? Just give the guy his at-bats, he'll do fine. Okay seriously it's not gonna be like that most nights... but he's a very adequate stopgap at an outfield spot. I'd like to see him play center field eventually. He probably won't have the range Reed does but I think he can handle it... and Reed just can't hit pitching at this level. Seeing it in person, that was pretty evident.
April 15, 200620 yr I think people are overrating Uggla's defensive ability because he's been hitting better than expected. I've seen flashes of average play, but for the most part I see below average range, hands, and accuracy...with an above average throwing arm. Maybe he'll make some small improvements under Hill, but I don't expect him to become an average defensive 2B...offensively, I think he has a better shot at achieving average status. If we had average offensive players (at C and CF) playing everyday and from day1 I believe we'd be at .500 right now. oh well...we'll see how this shakes out.
April 15, 200620 yr Besides what's been said already, I'd prefer if we have someone in the ninth other than Joe Borowski. And it deserves reiterating - Carlos Martinez is filthy.
