Just wanting peoples opinions...

Featured Replies

I am in an ongoning arguement with some friends and relatives of mine, over who has the best "stuff" of MLB starting pitchers. Not best record mind you, just the best stuff...

Of course, all my friends and family are cardinals fans, so I am getting mostly Carpenter and Mulder and one guy who said Marquis(and was serious).

Who do you think?

Good topic, but a question that can never be answered.

I assume by stuff you mean who has the most movement, bite, sink, and 'nasty stuff' on their pitches?

One of the first that comes to mind is Mark Prior when healthy and at the top of his game (rare of course).

Yea, it's more of an opinion. But debate is what a place like this is four, and I agree with Prior...get him away from the Cubs and Dusty Baker and he'll have multiple Cy Youngs. The Blue Jays have two other guys that could easily be in this discussion but have the same poison as Prior in Burnett and Halliday(and McGowan will be a beast when he comes up as well).

If you are talking about a pitcher that has the ability to make hitters look silly on his best day.............I have to go with Tim Wakefield. Just nasty knuckler.

If you are talking about a pitcher that just has nasty stuff Johan Santana is my pick

Some of the choices are interesting, especially Brad Lidge. The guy has an electric arm, but I don;t know if you can say a 2 pitch pitcher has the best "stuff". My personal opinion is Johan Santana.

Zito's curveball... at times. Some days it looks crap and gets hit everywhere. Other days he has that thing go into the earth's atmosphere and come down perfectly... it's filthy.

Pedro of 2000. That was probably the most dominating pitching season of all time.

Pedro might still have the nastiest stuff. He can strike people out with his little 85 mph fastball. He uses one of his changeups to set up his other changeup. :lol Now, if that's not nasty, I don't know what is.
