April 23, 200620 yr You can argue that in many ways it was much more difficult for European immigrants who have ever come to this nation than for any Latin to enter this nation. Especially once over here, what with there being essentially none of their culture around them, unlike with Latins. I know when my family immigrated over here in the mid 1800s it was learn English or dont eat. Regarding what the great T. Roosevelt said, it was also said 100 years ago, you can argue our national identity now has changed greatly. We had just had the Spanish-American war for one, there was no Mexico in its current state, and the political climates werent anywhere close to where they are now for Latin nations.
