May 9, 200618 yr Before you guys get all giddy about the passing of this deadline.....do you remember what the deadline is actually for? Just curious.  Yes. May 15th is when the judge, trying to sound macho, begins to look silly.
May 9, 200618 yr umm.....okay.....if that is what you want to believe. Â Actually though the deadline is nothing more than the date he needs a commitment in order to place the stadium referendum on the ballot in November. If the Marlins call him after that date, the game is still on, but the referendum would be on the 2007 ballot. Thats all it is. And frankly, despite the attempted spin by media, I see nothing macho at all in how he has handled this. He just knows how to get things done on election day. Unlike other politicos.
May 9, 200618 yr Except this is one thing he will never get done. An ill-conceived and effort over his head. So yes, he will look silly.
May 9, 200618 yr Except this is one thing he will never get done. An ill-conceived and effort over his head. So yes, he will look silly.  Nah. Cisneros (I think it was him) looked silly for getting the Alamodome built to attract an NFL team, just to be eliminated immediately from consideration. And on top of that... the Alamodome has NEVER been finished. Wolff doesn't look silly, and won't. He's still figuring out the national attention thing, but he's done a good job for the most part. He's been a little too confident (or cocky depending on your point of view) because he's an MLB fanatic and believes we are ready, or at least will be by 2010, but other than that, he's done an excellent job.
May 9, 200618 yr Except this is one thing he will never get done. An ill-conceived and effort over his head. So yes, he will look silly.  Well you guys certainly seem to be authorities on silly. Remind me again how long South Florida politicos have been trying to get this done? Is it 9 or 10 years now? Just curious.

Remind me again how long South Florida politicos have been trying to get this done? Is it 9 or 10 years now? Just curious. The team has been trying to get a stadium for almost 9 years now. That doesn't mean all that much though. These things usually do take years. The Brewers fought for 13 years before getting their park built. The Twins have probably been at it longer than that.

I am sure that they were shocked to be able to get a stadium plan from the Judge so quickly. He probably really took them off guard as a result.

I think site selection is a telling sign and definitely is something.
May 9, 200618 yr i cant wait until the marlins break ground in hialeah so the san anton homers will leave to start their own website called "whywedonthaveamlbteam.com"

The Marlins simply don't want to burn any bridges in case the deal with Hialeah falls through. The simple truth of the matter is that if they get a stadium in So. Florida they're not going anywhere. I hope you realize that.

Now......if something were to happen in downtown Miami and there was movement on that front, then I would think that SA would be out. But as long as Hialeah is the only option on the table, SA is very much in the game. But that is just my opinion.

May 9, 200618 yr Even if Hialeah is the only and best option, it is still a better option than San Antino.
May 9, 200618 yr i cant wait until the marlins break ground in hialeah so the san anton homers will leave to start their own website called "whywedonthaveamlbteam.com"Â Â Nah, we'll just invade some other teams message boards like we did to the Saints and you guys. I've said before we (as a city) don't particularly care if its NFL or MLB, we just want another team. We'll find the next most likely to move (Chargers, Jags, Twins maybe) and go bug them
May 9, 200618 yr I've said before we (as a city) don't particularly care if its NFL or MLB, we just want another team. Â You can take the Dolphins. :lol

And if a few of my friends in Miami saw me say that they would kill me...
