June 21, 200620 yr The flag is part of the American Nation, and during the Revolution, people died for an American Nation. That is my logic. Why are you such a dickhead?
June 21, 200620 yr People die for what the flag REPRESENTS. I'm pretty sure when one says 'they died for the flag', thats what they mean. Don't take the statement so literally.
June 21, 200620 yr you don't know sh*t Pot............ kettle. That's about as literate as you're capable of getting isn't it?
June 21, 200620 yr This thread is a bigger cluster than the music/dvd file sharing thread that has kept me from getting any of the items on the to-do list done this past week.
June 21, 200620 yr The flag merely represents the country which gives the orders for the soldiers to fight. Nobody has ever, ever-ever, for forever ever (?) taken a literal bullet for a flag. Which is what I'm arguing. They've taken bullets because they were ordered to, because the policies of the people in charge. To say that people have taken literal bullets FOR a flag is ludicrous and downright insulting to me. It's "kindergarten talk," to my line of thinking. The only insulting thing is that people like you, exist. You are so incredibly wrong in every single facet of that worthless point you're trying to make. They've taken bullets because they were ordered to, because of political policy? Tell that to recipients of the thousands of recipients, both living and dead who were awarded the Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, et al. who went above and beyond the call of duty. When someone says "he died for the flag" nobody ever means that he literally stood in front of the piece of cloth and took a bullet, he took that bullet for all that the flag represents. The notion of an American soldier taking a bullet for the flag is INSULTING to you? LMAO, what kind of twisted son of a bitch are you? You're not capable of thinking between the lines, you're not capable of thinking outside the box and understanding these very basic figures of speech. I have NEVER met anyone who takes every single thing so god damned literally, debating with you is like debating a 6 year old. You tell a 6 year old that "if you don't go to bed you won't wake up!" and they'll think they literally will NEVER wake up. That's what you're like, you're like a f***ing 6 year old. But since you want to play this game - nobody has ever literally taken a bullet for the flag? Wrong. Countless Marines died on Mount Suribachi to make possible one of the most spectacular images in American history.
June 21, 200620 yr The flag is part of the American Nation, and during the Revolution, people died for an American Nation. That is my logic. Why are you such a dickhead? Don't be an a**hole man, that was uncalled for. Recognize that from somewhere? The flag isn't a person. It's a peice of cloth. I'm more worried about people dying than any peice of cloth. And if it's used during times of corruption, when there's corruption, or when people are dying, and you don't want it burned because it should protected, then you're the worst peice of filth to me. You don't deserve to be an American. You don't deserve to live here. You dont' deserve to go to your bulls*** church services. You don't deserve any other right any other American believes. Go live somewhere else where people can't express themselves and live. People die for what the flag REPRESENTS. I'm pretty sure when one says 'they died for the flag', thats what they mean. Don't take the statement so literally. Then quit hiding behind this bulls*** phrase and quit saying it like that. To burn a flag is just as in the spirit of what those men died for than anything else. If our government sucks, we the people have a right to tell them so, through protest. And burning a flag does not more damage to those men that died for it.
June 21, 200620 yr Bargle. Thats my response. What does that mean? f*** them mother f***ers. Burn the flag, and burn in hell.
June 21, 200620 yr How many times do I have to say this? I don't think flag burning should be outlawed! You have such an obsession with being contrary that you don't even realize I agree with you. Wake up.

Wake up. I know that. You've constantly stated it. And yet, you yourself keep asking me questions. What the f*** is wrong with you? You keep asking me questions and I answered them. Are you retarded? Go back, reread this goddamn thing. Read it twice, for comprehension's sake. You ask me questions, demand that I answer them, then I do it and you get mad about it and sympathize. Then ask more questions. Have I done anything more than answer those questions? Ask yourself honestly if I'm keeping the argument going, or going back and answering your questions. And, even so, if you state a point of contention, I point I think is WRONG, or misguided, than I have the RIGHT to disagree with you, just like you can use your mod powers and delete it. I still don't hold it to be so, that the flag is a holy thing. In what sense does burning it REALLY dishonor anyone's memory? No one can provide a causal link because there isn't one. At all.

June 21, 200620 yr Im not one that believes blind flag worship is healthy for our country. BUT, Buckeye you have to chill out a little in terms of making statements about soldiers dying for our flag. Servicemen HAVE died for our flag. They have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. They have moved TOWARDS the bombs and gunfire where most Americans would be running the other way. There are times to question administrative decisions but there are times to proudly display a flag outside of your home out of respect to your country and those who fight for it. Should flag burning be legal? Unfortunately yes. But if you dont like it here there are an abundance of airports willing to take you somewhere else.

Did I say I have enough problems with this country to move? Did I EVER say that? All I'm saying it don't limit my basic freedoms because some bulls***. Freedom of expression. Flag burning is a part of it. Even if this country sucks, which for the most part it doesn't, supposedly you can stay and change things to make it better. Anyone who wants people with differing opinions to leave is a completely and totally not on board with America. Even those opinions who represent hate toward America, which mine do not, are and should be welcomed here (as long as they're not willing to harm others to prove their point, Al Quieda, Neo-Nazi's and KKK I'm looking in your general direction). Why? Because they allow for us to discuss rationally, or in this case, irrationally, what the hell is right or wrong in this country. I've made you ALL better people, philosophically, whether we agree or disagree. Just like you've all made me better, philosophically. Why? Because now our viewpoints are made stronger by the fact that we know it's opposition. Even if I think Accord is wrong, which I usually do, I have to thank him for strengthening my own arguments sometimes. And, on occasion I've made wrong statements. And I have to thank him for showing me the error of my ways. THAT'S AMERICA. The get it, or get out philosophy doesn't work for me, and doesn't work for the founding fathers or John Stewart Mill. So, stay, say whatever the hell you feel like, feel free to be right or wrong. I welcome that bulls***. Overreact how you must.

Your reply only focused on the last sentence of my post which may have been a little overreaction on my part and for that I apologize. My main point you ask? Men and women have died for our flag (the symbol of our country). We could all be speaking German right now if those men and women didnt make the ultimate sacrifice for us. I only ask that people THINK first before being so quik to defend flag burning. If you think first and still feel the same then so be it. Thats America.

I honestly think the burden of proof is on you to prove how flag burning is either detrimental to those people's memories, or how it's any different than a middle finger, pornography, differing opinions, etc. or various other protected speech that people come across and are offended by. My main thing has always been freedom as long as no one gets hurt. Which means do whatever, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. I'm crazy Libertarian like that. If you can somehow prove that flag burning hurts people or is damaging to their character/reputation, than hey, let's find a way to curb it. I'm not saying burn a flag because it's not sunny outside. I mean, if you want to, and you're kooky enough, I guess, whatever, not my burden to bear. But, if someone has a legit beef, it's to the level that America is WRONG, that the person has BEEN wronged, and nobody's willing to listen, then hey, do what you gotta' do to get people to listen as long as it's legal and you're not hurting anyone else.

Now Reagan and both Bushes have the "Moral Majority."..who as far as I am concerned, is neither... ? I was commenting on the indoctrination that kids are put through in American schools. Nothing to do with Democrat/Republican. And before anyone responds, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing to love your country. Though extreme nationalism is what has allowed governments throughout history to get away with things they shouldn't be getting away with. And I think in the US they brain wash you about unconditional love for the country so that when they are involved in some dirty business they can spin it as they wish, because the US can do no evil. How can it be....we are the greatest nation on earth! Those who want flag burning banned fall under this group of people. Blinded by their indoctrination. I want to go off on a limb and say that is not what the 'founding fathers' would have wanted.
June 21, 200620 yr Some quick food for thought, why isn't burning the flag arson? It's arson if you burn your own house down, so why not a flag?
