June 21, 200620 yr What exactly did they say? They started off with some recaps of the game, Ross' catch, the injury of Mora, the long AB's by Hannly and Uggla. Then they went on praising Dan Uggla and how he is doing better then Utley and how he might get in the ASG because of coaches and managers votes. They started to talk about how hot the fish are not and how talented they are which is where the success is coming from. They started talking about how they felt bad for joking on the team and how it has become so impressive. then finally noted we had the best record since that win over the Cubs 9-1
June 21, 200620 yr A few days ago I was castigated for calling out the coverage of the Marlins on ESPN because I felt not only was it unfair it led to a perception of the franchise nationally as laughingstocks. What you just saw on BBTN was a major league mea culpa by HR and the guys who admitted "we called them little leaguers, well they are playing the best baseball in the MLB right now and you have to give credit to the FO for scouting these players out and putting this team together..." and one by one they went down our lineup and gave them props, led by their near hero-worship of Dan Uggla. Here's what this means. You'll see trolling on the ESPN and MLB boards down considerably, you'll see more writers around the country fall over themselves to explain why they didn't really mean what they said in March when they demanded the commissioner step in and do something about the Marlins putting a AAA team on the field. They really didn't believe their own words when they said the Marlins were pathetic and would lose 120 games or that HAD to trade Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera hated the situation he was in. It all went out the window tonight. In short, media-wise, the world got turned upside. Now let's see how our local media responds.

June 21, 200620 yr I've personally always felt the "Cabrera is unhappy, hates it here, and is secretly demanding a trade" articles the funniest. Espicially since he has been quoted as saying he loves it here and doesnt want to be traded.

June 21, 200620 yr I have tears of pride welling after i heard BBTN...This team has taken such a beating by the national media that tonite was an excorcism of all the evil demons and an unveiling of a new era for this team. We are good and everyone knows it!
