Timberwolves center Eddie Griffin was served with a civil suit accusing him of crashing his SUV into a parked car because he was drunk and watching a pornographic DVD, according to the PIONEER PRESS.

 

The suit seeks $50,000 in compensatory damages and could be amended to include punitive damages, said Mike Padden, attorney for plaintiffs Jamal Hassuneh and Lindsey Hassuneh.

 

Griffin did not return a phone message seeking comment, nor did his lawyer, Jeff Wernick of Los Angeles-based Wasserman Media Group. A WMG spokeswoman said Griffin would release a statement today and declined further comment.

 

Timberwolves spokesman Mike Cristaldi said team officials would not comment because they consider it a matter between Griffin and the plaintiffs.

 

Griffin told the Pioneer Press a day after the accident that he crashed his car because he was reaching for a cell phone that had fallen off his lap. The complaint, filed in St. Paul District Court, alleges the crash occurred because he was "under the influence of alcohol" and masturbating while watching pornography on a TV set in his dashboard.
