Devil Rays.... AUTOWAY....... what the hell?

Featured Replies

So in the D-Rays game tonight Kazmir was pulled and it was time for a pitching change, the Maroone song comes on and they sing the song..... "if you need a car, truck or van, who ya gonna call........" but instead of "MAROOOOONE!" it was "AUTOOOOWAY!!!"

It was so bizarre not hearing Maroone.

AutoNation is the umbrella company for Maroone in So Fla., AutoWay in Tampa, John Elway (yes, you read right) in Denver, etc. They're the same company, but with different brand names for each market; thus, they all share the same advertising elements, including the jingle and "Ghostbusters" music.

Maroone is the flagship group though. Maroone has been using that jingle for almost 20 years.

Mike Shad is the Jacksonville name.

Wayne founded AutoNation and Maroone merged in and took over.

So the jingle in Denver goes......... "If ya need a car... truck or van...... who ya gonna call......... JOHN ELWAY"?

So no matter where you live in this country, it is impossible to escape the jingle.

THERE'S NO REASON TO LIVE ANYMORE!

I remember being in Orlando and the commercial for Courtesy came on. I was with Max. That was a "WTF?" moment for us right there. :lol

It's not around here in Maine (except on MLB.TV), but you have to put up with "Jolly John" :plain.

He's really not that bad anymore, but he used to dress up in chicken suits. Now he's just left with his strong Maine accent. ("If you want to pay more, that's your business; but if you want to pay less, that's aaaauuuuuhh business.")
